Pros: good desk-top cooling, relatively cheap
Cons: terrible off-desk cooling, cheap materials, faulty/short power cord,
The Bottom Line: Save your money...this is the biggest piece of crap I've bought since I fertilized my garden a couple years ago.

| henrylm's Full Review: Vantec LapCool 4 Laptop Cooler w/ 4 Port USB 2.0 H... |
I bought this product about 10 months ago because my 3 yr old P4-m laptop was having some heat issues when running at full load (HDD temperature > 55 degrees). Thus, I researched some laptop coolers and found this one, which was at the price range I was looking for (about $45 shipped). At first, it worked great, and if you're using it on a flat, hard surface, the cooling is very noticeable. However, as soon as you leave these ideal conditions (e.g. my bed), the twin fans are basically worthless.
The power cord is ridiculously short for something like this (about 6 ft), so it limits your working range.
What's worse, over the course of several months, the cheap, flimsy plastic has caused the stand to be uneven and thus my laptop wobbles on top of it. The various rubber mounts easily fall off when subjected to the laptop's heat (ridiculous!) and the extra "bonuses" are pretty much worthless: two tiny compartments under the box and a few usb ports. The final, worst "feature" is the fact that the power cord connection is incredibly bad--it must be in just the right position in order to deliver power, and will cut out if you move it just a hair...a fact exacerbated by the short cord which likes to tug at tip.
This is a BAD product. Do not waste your money.
