E*Trade mortgage is absolutely terrible. They're incompetent, inefficient, and screw up just about everything they touch. I like E*Trade for managing stocks and money, but I'm going to switch mortgage providers as soon as possible. After completely mucking up the closing--they didn't have the check ready--they messed up one thing after another. Then they sold my loan to GMAC (which makes life more miserable at tax time because there's more paperwork). Then, GMAC sold the loan back to E*Trade. My statements are incorrect--they say I have a late fee assessed, then right below it, it says that my late fee balance is $0.00. I called them. They were clueless. When I checked my credit rating, it didn't list the mortgage (even though I've had it for 6 months). When I called, they said it takes 60 days before they can report the loan to the credit bureaus. When I said it's been six months, there was silence. Bottom line? E*Trade Mortgage is the worst. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
