What A Crock!
Written: Jul 11 '01 (Updated Jul 11 '01)
Pros:Oval shape accommodates larger cuts of meat, Stoneware crock lifts out for easy clean up.
Cons:None
The Bottom Line: Everyone should have one of these in their kitchen.
Right after I was married I received a second hand crock-pot from a family member but I hardly ever used it because it was small and a pain to clean. I actually bought the Rival 5 1/2 qt. Oval Crock-Pot for my mother the Christmas before she died. After she was gone my dad gave it to me and I couldn't get my old one to the garbage fast enough.
I really give this Crock-Pot a work out especially in the summer. What can be easier than throwing ingredients into the stoneware crock in the morning, setting it to low or high (depending on your recipe) and ending up with a delicious meal that evening without having to stand over a hot stove? To top it all off, the crock lifts out for easy cleaning (stoneware crock and glass lid are both dishwasher safe) and the base can be wiped clean with a soft cloth and warm soapy water.
The instruction booklet even comes with lots of recipes (Easy-Does-It Spaghetti, Steak Soup, and Herbed Turkey Breast to name a few) to get you started. Even a beginner can make delicious meals. This Crock-Pot also comes with a limited one-year warranty.
I have definitely gotten my $35 worth out of this Crock-Pot and I see lots of use in it's future.
