I ordered 2 Motorola Razrs from them that were supposed to be free after the rebate.
They have a VERY difficult rebate policy, you need to wait between 90 and 120 days after "activation" date, which they don't specify anywhere so I used the purchase date, send them copies of wireless service bills, etc. etc. I'm ok with that, I understand the more difficult they make it, the less people will follow through to get their rebate, that's how they make some of their money.
But I'm a stickler for getting rebates. I documented everything, including receipts from the post office that showed they received my mail.
I got one rebate, but not the other. I called and they said they only had one. I said I have all copies and proof they received it. They said I could re-send it as long as it makes it to them in time. Well of course their short 30 day window to submit the rebate form etc. had passed long ago while I waited for them to process the forms, 6-8 weeks or so. I said it's their fault, I sent it, I have copies, I have proof they received it, no dice. I asked to talk to a manager, same thing.
I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. They didn't respond to it!
This company obviously makes their money but not honoring their commitments. Very dishonest. I would never do business with them again.
For $150 it's not worth my time to file a lawsuit or something. But hopefully this review steers other people away from them who would be ripped off too. I hope they lose more than $150 in business. They could have just live up to their commitments, instead they think it's good business to steal from their customers by not honoring their rebates.
Look at all the other negative reviews. This wasn't a one time deal, they don't honor their rebates, and that's the reason I bought from them.
Save yourself a headache, buy from someone else.
UPDATE 2008: I got a letter from an attorney there was a class action lawsuit against wirefly/inphonic for failing to fulfill rebates. I sent back the form that I wanted to be included. A few months later I got word back that they had gone out of business so the lawsuit couldn't continue. I guess they sold off the wirefly name / technology to another company. That's lame. I'm sure the executives of that company made a lot of money with dishonest business practices, and when the crap hit the fan they just got out. I'd like to steal $150 from one of the people who ran the company and said it was ok to not fulfill rebates.
