INTRO TO eBAY
Looking for a hard to find item? Hoping to buy something at a low price? I suggest trying eBay. Chances are you will find what you desire here. eBay is easy to join too, and you don't have to pay a cent to bid. It's also easy to join If you want to put your items up for bid. All you need is a credit card to sell your stuff. I've been bidding at eBay for a while now and 99% of the time have found what I've searched for. Even if they don't have what you're looking for one day, chances are they will have it up for bid soon.
HOW eBAY WORKS
If you are looking to bid on something, you can either browse through their various categories or you can do what I do and use their search engine. Just type in a key word or 2 of what you desire and press search and it will display the results. 99% of the time you will find it listed in there, but if not that day it's sure to be found on another day. Look through all the matches of the product you're looking for and choose which one you want to bid on(chances are there will be various sellers selling the same item)then just type out how much you want to bid on the item, starting from the minimum bid (which is determined by the seller)press the bid this amount button and you're on your way. Simple as that. Just make sure you don't go overboard with your bids if someone else tries to out bid you.
BUY IT NOW
Sometimes the seller will put a "Buy It Now" price on his item. What this means is you can buy the item right off the bat without placing a bid on the item. This is good if you don't want to compete with someone to win the item, as long as the buy it now price is a reasonable one. "Buy It Now" can go either way because It's a bit of a gamble. You can either take your chances bidding on the item hoping to get it cheaper than the buy it now price(this doesn't always work)or if you want to play it safe you can just buy it without trying to get it cheaper. It's a consumer's decision.
PAYMENT AND SHIPPING
Payment type is decided by the seller so before you bid read closely about their rules of payment. Most will accept just about everything(credit card, money order, check etc.)but some may have a certain preference of payment. If you don't want to pay through the mail then you can pay on line directly to the seller by paying by a few services called: PayPal + BidPay where you can pay by credit card or on line check. Chances are you will get your item sooner by paying this way. There is a time limit on your payment. Usually you have to pay the seller within 10 days of the bid's end, but if you are a little late the seller will sometimes give you a day or 2 extra depending on the seller's decision. If you do not pay the seller after a lengthy period of time, they will first give you a warning and if you still haven't paid after this warning eBay has the right to label you as a non paying bidder(every seller will see this)or they can suspend you from eBay completely, so be very careful you pay on time. As far as the seller's shipping time is concerned, it is generally pretty quick judging from my own experiences.
FEEDBACK
On eBay the more you buy or sell you will receive feedback for your transactions. Feedback is based on the buyer/seller's opinion on how well the transaction went so they can either give you good feedback or negative feedback. Feedback can be viewed by every seller and bidder so be careful how well you handle a transaction or your reputation on eBay can be tainted. You will also be able to give the seller feedback based on your opinion of their transaction.
OBAN24'S FINAL OPINION ON eBAY
Now that I've rambled on so much about how eBay works and what not, I can now give you some of my own opinions on eBay. Being a big fan of Hockey, Hockey fights, videos, and CD's I can tell you there hasn't been much I haven't found. From the most popular items to the items everyone else could care less about, I have found them. Maybe not all in the same day, but sooner or later I have come across what I've searched for. All the way from Hockey fight tapes to Celtic rock CD's among other things I enjoy eBay has it. eBay has something for everyone.-Oban24
