...BEFORE our trip to Ecuador! Just kidding! You must do an incredible amount of research before your trips, no wonder you come up with so many bargains. I do hope you make it to the Galapagos before long. You would be in 7th heaven and, even there, bargains are to be had!
Great review!

There's probably enough of us interested in going to Ecuador that speak it that it would at least be worth mentioning. I would love to go to Ecuador, especially Easter Island but I'm lucky to get out of town on a weekend. The closest I ever got was Cali. I guess I wouldn't want to set foot in Colombia now.

What a great collection of Ecuador travel books and websites (Reply to this comment)

I have wanted to visit Ecuador since I read Thurston Clarke's wonderful book "Equator" (Clarke traveled around the world on the equator--
east to west--beginning on the east coast of South America and finishing in Ecuador) Very nicely done.

Well, to each his (or her) own...
Personally, I think now is the *PERFECT* time to travel outside the U.S. With all the media hype and travel generally down, it's a prime opportunity for savvy travelers to scarf on some excellent deals. Plus, when you travel where and when the crowds aren't, you get better service etc.
Let others panic. Me, I'll take the bargains!
See ya on the road (errr...maybe not...)

I loved our visit there though I don't think I'd leave the country right now. My daughter was thinking of doing an internship either here or Costa Rica. I'm glad she changed her mind. Not that I feel safe here of course! Nice job..super job on this review. jo
