The Bottom Line It's one made of two.

Soul + Mate = Soul Mate
A Haiku by tbthorn

To define soul mate,
the analytical route
I shall undertake.

Souls live forever,
unlike the fragile vessel
which fades in due time.

A soul, like the sea,
fears no one and no thing here,
it can't be destroyed.

Like the mighty ocean,
descending the deepest depths,
he brings highest tides.

A mate is another --
a companion and lover
all rolled into one.

She brings day to night,
sparks to a dwindling flame,
and her lips to mine.

Mates are akin to shoes,
for they only come in pairs -
though many shapes and styles.

Soul mates know no time,
know no place, and fear no thing.
Soul mate is half soul.

Soul mates come by twos,
a matching pair interlaced.
Soul mate is half mate.

Our journey ends here:
Soul plus mate equals soul mate,
it's one made of two.

This is my entry into DavidMac and Jankp's Calling All Souls Write-Off. Seek out their profile pages for more information on the W/O and a complete list of participants.

Since I'm only on page 20 of the book on Tantric spirituality that I was going to review, I decided to write a quick Haiku instead. Please forgive the fact that I can't count syllables; that clapping thing just doesn't work for me. Because I don't want to completely ruin my hard-earned reputation, I do have one more Haiku for you:

One thing is for sure,
writing poetry doesn't
help get a guy laid.

Happy Valentine's Day!
