Is your soul mate determined when you both are naked? -- Calling All Souls” W/O

The Bottom Line February 14th is just one of the wonderful days I cherish my real "soul mate".

Although I’ve been a groupie of Epinions.com writer Jan Peregrine jankp and a recent reader and admirer of David Macdonald davidmac writings I initially wavered on the opportunity of participating in the “Calling All Souls” for Valentine’s Day writer-off. Although I’ve never bought into the stereotype that men are not in touch with their feelings. I for one consider myself as sensitive as the next guy. I’ve expressed joy, I’ve wallowed in self-pity, and I’ve even wept openly. (Okay, the last part was when I was 7 and my pet hamster Fluffy died.) The problem rested in me refusing to believe all the previous claims people have made about being soul mates.

What’s important now is that I taken the plunge and jumped into the “Calling All Souls” write-off. In all honesty, I had a little difficulty understanding the objective and meaning based upon my preliminary understanding of the word “soul mate”. According to the Merriam-Webster online Dictionary a soul mate is a person temperamentally suited to another.

Perhaps this is why during my younger days when I was in the dating scene; there were so many proclamations, “I’m your soul mate!” If you are familiar with the dating scene or have ever ventured into the world of romance, then perhaps you are familiar with this phrase that’s tossed around like a one-dollar bill. Its amazing how many people claim this special relationship and have no clue what a soul mate is.

Is it possible to find a soul mate that you are not compatible with? Are soul mates made in heaven? Or perhaps its something determined when you both are naked? Is there only one soul mate for everyone? Is there some sort of mystical way of recognizing your soul mate in a crowd? And finally, how do I know if the person who claims to be my soul mate is really my soul mate?

I consciously came together with someone beautiful and shared experiences beyond my wildest dreams. This delightful person and I share in each other's growth with the understanding that we are mirrors for each other. Naturally, this did not happen over night it took time. The puzzling part is that the relationship left the temperamental phase. We have a unique sense of familiarity about each other; in fact we share a long-term loving commitment. We eventually agreed, “Until death do we part”. This person matches me spiritually, mentally, emotionally and physically. I have a ferocious and healthy appetite and have never gone hungry for passion. I feel safe with this sensual person we have complete honesty and support for one another.

This person is my best friend and we accept each other for who we are. Thank God! We have never tried, asked or attempted to change each other. One of the major strengths of our relationship is that we have always accepted each other for who we are. We relish our weekends and any small amount of time we have together and cherish every moment of laughter in our union. February 14th is one of the many days of the year I celebrate her. This wonderful person is more than a soul mate, she is my loving wife.
