We bought this DVD player before a long flight to India almost a year ago from Best Buy. We bought it for our son who is 2 months shy of 3 years at time of writing this review.
We picked the player after reviewing several portable DVD players on account of its picture, battery longevity and clean design. While not quite the 6 hours of the Panasonic DVD-LS90, 4.5 hours was still pretty good. The picture was superior to anything else we had seen, including the aforementioned Panasonic which had a conspicuously bad picture.
This DVD player is operated by my son by himself and so it has come under a fair amount of abuse. It has been dropped multiple times and while the screen feels a little loose, it still works great. Movies that have not worked on other DVD players work fine on this one.
Well! A few days ago, my son spilled his glass of water on it and that was the end of it, or so we thought. Water had gone into the electronics and it was not working. Three days later after starting to research for a replacement (and letting it dry) we plugged it in and guess what - it works! It seems to be INDESTRUCTIBLE!
This is a great portable DVD player for not only does it offer a good picture with battery longevity, but has proven to be incredibly sturdy as well.
If I had to replace it, the first place I would look would be for another Samsung!
