The Bottom Line Every one of these flicks will make your hair stand on end and sleep with the lights on!!
There are lots of movies with some scary spots but how many with scary plots? Well I have some for you! Most of the movies that scared the hell out of me I viewed as a child. Movies like The Exorcist and The Evil Dead were awesome scary movies! Even now they are still spooky! I have only seen a couple that have scared me as an adult. At any rate I have compiled a list of movies that made a Sleep with the lights on, impression on me. 1. The Exorcist (1973) Based on the novel by William Peter Blatty Directed by William Friedkin Linda Blair as Regan MacNeil Jason Miller (I) as Father Damien Karras Ellen Burstyn as Chris MacNeil Max von Sydow as Father Lankester Merrin Lee J. Cobb as Lieutenant Kinderman I was about seven years old when I seen the Exorcist at our local drive in theater. After seeing this film, to this day the thought of a possession scares the hell out of me! It's just pure freaky man! I believe the reason it is so scary is that the movie was based on a possession that took place in 1949, which Blatty wrote the novel about. A long with that the Catholic Church used to recognize an actual possession and deal with them by way of an exorcism. If you are a god-fearing person this movie will play on your mind! Regan MacNeil (Blair) is a 12-year-old girl who has been playing around with an Ouija Board. She had made contact with an entity that called itself Captain Howdy. Shortly thereafter she began to experience the power of this twisted evil spirit. Before long she was at the complete mercy of this demon. It had manifested itself in here body and was extremely violent. Regans mother Chris, had been to every shrink in the state who had ran every test imaginable. There were no answers as Regans condition (possession) grew even worse. There were no more options so Chris entertained the thought that Regan might in fact be possessed. She turned to Father Damien Karras for help. Father Karras was also a physiatrist. He immediately identified the situation as a possession. The only issue was that there was only one man in the Catholic Church who had actually done an exorcism, this man was Father Merrin. By now the possession was getting vulgar! The assault on Regan by the demon was so intense that Regan was in danger of loosing her life. I you would like to scare the hell out of yourself, rent The Exorcist {Quotes from the Exorcist} Regan MacNeil, Your mother's in here, Karras. Would you like to leave a message? I'll see that she gets it! Father Merrin, The demon is a liar. He will lie to confuse us. But he will also mix lies with the truth to attack us. The attack is psychological, but powerful. So don't listen, remember that, do not listen. Chris MacNeil, I thought you were supposed to be an expert on this. Father Karras, There are no experts. You probably know as much about possession as most priests.
