I try to watch scary movies but I have bad dreams from them. Even like you said, Nightmare on Elms Street.

I hope you mean Tobe Hooper. They aren't the same person, I don't think... Very good list. I agreed with most of it. Evil Dead is excellent and Texas Chainsaw is a work of art. The remake SUCKS!

...Children of the Corn? God, that movie scared the hell out of me when I was younger...I don't think I went to sleep that entire night, and I had trouble sleeping for the next few nights.

Poltergeist - I have only this to say: As the little boy notices the clown missing from the chair, and he starts peering under each side of the bed....*shivers running down my spine already*...that clown face popping out scares me to this day.

I would add these two or three.... (Reply to this comment)

John Carpenter's "The Thing"(why didn't they ever make a sequel to it???)
Alien (the original)

and I'd throw in Evil Dead 2, even though it's more funny than scary, but still a classic...

I guess I have a chance to meet Bruce Campbell on March 16th, as he is coming to my university's campus.

Great review and fantastic suggestions!

I'll tell you what's scary... (Reply to this comment)

....seeing cast members of Poltergeist dying under myterious circumstances after the film was made.

Good list though, although I agree with what Sheila said about American Werewolf in London.

Interesting list. However, I consider "An American Werewolf In London" to be more of a black comedy than horror. Nice job. Sheila

Now those Freddy Krueger nightmares are going to come back. I'm 20 years old and I still have them on occasion. The Shining also still scares the bejesus out of me.

Good choices and nice write-up.
