I have been working in the internet for a long time. And one thing you need as a programmer is a FTP program. As there are many too choose from this is not an easy decision to make. CuteFTP is surely one of the most famous ones and it has been around for quite a while now.
I like CuteFTP because it actually looks quite cute. ;) Beside that you can upload a file with just one click. That may sound a little bit trivial but its very important if you keep updating files. With FTP Voyager for instance you have to drag and drop which is really annoying cause it takes more time to update single files.
With CuteFTP you can delete whole directories and its content, which is a good feature cause it saves time.
It is possible to associate a local directory / remote directory to an FTP site. Which means it automatically changes to the folder where the files for that specific server are.
There is a MP3 search integrated, which uses third party search engines though. I prefer Napster/Audiogalaxy though.
You can have CuteFTP stay connected to an FTP server by using the smart keep alive feature. Even when the server disconnects after some while, you can tell CuteFTP to autoconnect with some delay (like 10 seconds).
The schedule feature allows you to schedule current or saved queues for later transfer.
It has of course firewall support, right-click shell integration, site to site transfers, and much more.
Recently Globalscape offer CuteFTP Pro for the professional user, see www.globalscape.com for more information.
