We must always remember those who lost their lives. We must always keep our guard up.

After reading your piece today and saw you had written another called Something Missing. After checking it out was wondering why I had not read this one until I noticed the date. It was written on the day my husband passed away. I was not paying much attention to epinions during those days.

You have written a great piece here and I enjoyed reading it and the one today as well. Our memories are what hold us together and make us stronger.

Thanks

But I read it at the right time.

I have been depressed and close to tears all day from the reports coming from the Freedom Iraq campaign.

We have new casualties, new fears, new challenges. But if we meet them with the attitude you've displayed here, we'll be okay.

Mostly the prayers, for our boys and men, and for the oppressed people who know no other way of life.

Thank you for this wonderful tribute. I won't forget, so many of us won't. And may God bless even those who today seem to have forgotten.

Let's unite as we did after 9-11.

...At the moment the USA is building up for a possible war. The nation seems to be divided on this issue. We must, no matter how we feel about politics, remember to do what is best for all Americans and freedom loving people. This is a difficult issue, in difficult times. One thing though, we must remember there are people out there who do not like Americans, our freedoms, and our way of life. September 11th is a living memorial to this. We must live in freedom yet be on guard. ...

AMEN!!!

final 2 in the paper back in Feb. but I didn't see the one that "won." They were both, imo, fantastic tributes. The feeling of anger took over for me after the absolute terror of leaving my house went away. I don't feel it anymore and that is scary because if I don't, others don't and we have to be angry so we don't let down our guard. Sorry to use your space for this little vent of mine. Thanks for the piece. I don't think I read it the first time around. jo

Phil,

Thanks so much for moving this onto Writers Corner.

Your description of Ground Zero was very meaningful to me. I lost a family member who had the misfortune of being on one of the planes.

You live in (near)a great city as you know. It has much to offer. I appreciate your feisty New York attitude. We must indeed move on. But we must never forget.

This was a very touching read and a great reminder of why the U.S often seems to some as war mongering. I truly believe George W. is doing his best to prevent this type of thing from happening again.
