If You Want To Save Money, Then Shopping On-Line Is The Way To Go!
Mar 14 '03
The Bottom Line It is not magic, but a few simple steps as I have described will save you a ton of money!
Saving money with on-line shopping should be a routine that you always use when you decided that you might decide to spend some of your hard earned dollars. However, there is more than one way to accomplish this task, and you can easily compound your savings.
It is not necessary to even get involved with rebate sites, as we all know many of them have gone under, and some people lost a great deal of money. The best example of this would have been cyberrebate.com, where people thought by paying up to ten times the normal price for an item, and waiting six months to get their rebate, that this was a good deal, well, is wasnt and for anyone wanting to save money while shopping there are a few basic steps to follow that will not cause you to worry about getting your money back..
My first recommendation is to sign up for ebates.com. This sight offers rebates from 1% to 25% depending on the store. When you visit their site, you can search by type of store, clothing, electronics, food, and all the categories that you will find on the web. My best recommendation is to download Moe Money Maker and that way you will never miss an ebate! It is a very quick download, that will pop up every time that you visit a website that offers money back on your purchase. I installed it and found that now I do not EVER miss a chance to save money. You will need to register for ebates if it is your first visit, and make sure you are logged in. When you are visiting a site, and are logged in correctly, the ebates banner will be at the top of your page. You will receive a check quarterly from them. I have found this site to be very honest, and prompt.
Secondly, you need a good coupon savings sight. I personally have found that www.dealhunting.com to be my favorite. Savings are listed by date, and by store. I find that using the quick drop down box on the home page to give me the fastest information that I need for specific coupons, and promotions.
So now that I have given you the basics, lets take this whole thing a little further. I read on dealhunting.com that Coldwater Creek was having an extra 30 percent off in the outlet. Since I prefer outlet shopping to paying full price, I clicked on the drop down box, at dealhunting and saw several great coupons. There was one for $20 a $100 purchase, so that is an automatic 20% additional savings over the already reduced outlet prices, with the additional 30% off promotion at their website www.coldwatercreek.com. Although there were other coupons for smaller amounts, I found this to be the best one. Some coupon codes cannot be used more than once, however, I was able to use these generic ones multiple times.
Now remember, I am already logged in at ebates.com and am going to receive a 4% rebate on anything I spend. So, disregarding the fact that I was shopping in the outlet where prices are as low as 70% off to start with, I saved 20% by using the coupon at dealhunting.com, 30% due to the promotion at coldwatercreek.com, and 4% from ebates. That comes to a grand total of a 54% savings! Remember, that was off of the sale price to begin with.
So why should you shop this way? Obviously, it doesnt take much extra time, but it can save you tons of money. The internet is a wonderful way to shop, but the fact that you can get great deals just by taking simple steps as I have lined out, and have done nothing illegal, then there should be no other way to be a smart consumer!
Have fun!
