I buy lots of stuff online. This was by far the worst experience I've had.
January 3 - place order for Panasonic TH42PX60U 42" plasma TV. It was advertised on their website as being $1192 + $133 shipping = bottom line price of $1325. Called to place the order. Told that actual price of the TV was $1392, but there is a $200 manufacturer's rebate. I accepted this (foolishly).
I was told that I'd have the TV in a week. I should call back in 3 days for a shipping tracking number.
January 6 - I call, only to find out that customer service is closed on the weekend. An email to their manager@pcvideoonline.com bounced.
January 8 - call to find out tracking number. Find out that TV hasn't even shipped yet. Guy I talk to guarantees that it will be there by the 17th, which is when I'll be on vacation and won't be able to accept the TV. "Not a problem." Told them I'd just like to cancel if they couldn't guarantee delivery by the 17th. I'm in Texas and they're in NY. Seems like an issue.
January 9 - called again. Told it was being processed. No tracking info yet. Charge appears on card when I check online, though.
January 10 - call again for tracking info. None yet, although they promise it has shipped. I did get an invoice and rebate info faxed to me. The rebate is for $200 off installation charges! What's more, the rebate program was to end on December 31, 2006. I look at the invoice closer - they changed my order date to December 31, 2006! They also broke out $200 for installation charges. So it is up to me to commit fraud for the $200 rebate.
January 11 and 12 - more calls, more guarantees that it has shipped. They're having problems with their computers and regret that they can't get the tracking info to me.
January 15 - finally get tracking info with a company called Manna. They don't have the TV yet. They also confirm that installation is not part of the deal.
I called pcvideoonline.com and told them that Manna says they don't have the TV and that I wanted to cancel my order. To my surprise, they agree. They then tell me it will be 10 working days before they can credit my card! Unreal. Of course after 10 working days, I still don't have the credit. Another call, another guarantee that it will be there. I ended up disputing the charge with my credit card company. To my amazement, the credit appeared two days later.
Bottom line is that these people will lie, lie, and lie some more. Don't be fooled by the girls in customer service with the sweet, girl-next-door voices. They lie! Combine that with the shady rebate shenanigans and this place is the worst business that I've run into.
Funny thing is that I used the ratings on pricegrabber.com to influence my decision - they had all this feedback that was positive. I checked the first 30 or so ratings and none of those people had left feedback for anything else. I think those people are stuffing the ballot box.
Stay away! You've been warned.
