I purchased a Gateway Performance 1400 last January, 2001. Within one month the hard drive went out. Gateway responded efficiently when they supplied a new one. They sent an IBM Technician out to install it. However, that's all he was allowed to do was install it. I had to load everything back on to my computer and if I ran into problems I had to telephone Gateway. Even the Technician thought this was a poor way of Customer Service. Luckily, I ran into no problems.

Two months passed by, my Boston speakers went out. By this time I was thoroughly disgusted with Gateway. They did however, ship new speakers immediately.

I would not recommend Gateway to anyone. For as much money as I have spent..there are just too many problems and defects. I give Gateway a "one star" rating and the one star is for rapid replacement parts.
