The Bottom Line: If you've tried structured carriers and have been disappointed, try the Kozy! Versatile, comfortable, durable, machine washable, and infinitely adjustable! You'll love it!

The Kozy Carrier is an incredible product at a great value. Fashioned after a traditional asian, Mei Tai sling, this carrier is versatile and easy to use.

After purchasing many other, expensive carriers and quickly abandoning them to the closet, I took a chance an purchased the Kozy. A friend had purchased one and raved, so I decided to try it. Plus, Kozy offers a 30-day money back guarantee--if you don't love the carrier, simply return it for a refund, minus shipping and a $5 processing fee (some restrictions apply--see the website http://www.kozycarrier.homestead.com for full details). So, feeling I had nothing to lose, I went to the website and ordered.

The ordering process is simple. You can choose your fabric type, pattern, and color, and there are even options such as an extra pocket and XL straps. The base model is $69, and with other options, can extend up to $85. I chose a black canvas material, reversible to a gorgeous, contemporary print, and added the optional pocket for wipes, etc. The checkout process was simple, and I received my Kozy within a week.

The Kozy arrived in an environmentally-friendly shipping bag that, when opened, reverses to a waterproof-lined canvas tote bag with handles. I unfolded the Kozy, and following the basic instructions inside, had my 14 month old son tied onto my back in minutes.

The Kozy is basically a shaped fabric pouch with 2 sets of wide straps--waist straps (unpadded), and thickly padded shoulder straps. There are no buckles, no catches, no plastic to dig into your (or your baby's) skin. With the Kozy, baby can be worn in front, either facing forwards or toward the caregiver, on the hip, and on the back in either a high or low carrying position. Talk about versatility!

I really got to test drive my new Kozy the day after it arrived. We were moving into our new home, and wanting to keep my son out of the way of the movers, I tied him into the back carry. Much to my surprise, my son loved it instantly! He could see over my shoulder, was held close to me, yet he felt involved in my actions. He stayed in the carrier for 3 hours that day, never once complaining! I was sold!

Since that day, we keep a Kozy in our vehicle at all times. And it has been a lifesaver in the winter--Aiden is warm and safely tucked against me. Outdoor festivals in the summer are great--no worries about pushing a stroller over rough terrain. Even now, at over 2 years old, I carry him in the Kozy comfortably. In fact, just yesterday, I took him through an antique mall on my back--he can see around, and I don't have to worry about little fingers reaching from the stroller to grab things! My son has even been known to fall asleep in the carrier, especially in the back carry position--he just rests his head on my upper back or shoulder and falls asleep, curled comfortably in a little ball.

Unlike other carriers, the straps on the Kozy are comfortable. I can adjust the carrier's straps to fit me and my husband effortlessly, without a lot of wrestling with plastic buckles. Once in the carrier, Aiden doesn't slip--the canvas straps hold a knot well--unlike many nylon straps on other carriers that tend to slip over time from the baby's weight. There is a hidden pocket sewn into the end of the waist strap which allows me to stash keys, a credit card or two and even my cell phone, so I can easily go purse-free. And with the optional pocket on the outside of carrier, I can stash a diaper and some wipes, and I'm set for several hours out and about with my son--HANDS FREE!!

The Kozy does have a learning curve and may take some getting used to. The procedure for tying a child into the various positions isn't difficult, but it will take some practice. Luckily, detailed instructions, with pictures, can be found on the website that will teach you how to tie your child into the various carrying positions comfortably and safely.

For moms that nurse, Kozy is a great option for discreet, public nursing. With your child in a front carry position, they can easily access the breast, and the Kozy's high sides and curved neck support offer plenty of privacy. And if they fall asleep while riding? Just lean over the crib or bed, untie the straps, and slide the flat material out from under them.

We love our Kozy and are amazed at how comfortable it is to carry a child in it, even a 26 lb. preschooler! This carrier is strong, made to last, and is machine washable. It can be customized to comfortably fit each person wearing it and can be folded away and stashed in a pocket in your car. It is WONDERFUL for travelling, fits in a suitcase like a dream, and is so versatile! And the best part about it is the wonderful bond you build with your child, holding them offering them the love and security they so desperately need.
