healing and renewal. Thanks for the sweet poem about naming trees and springtime. I can almost smell the fresh earth. It warmed my heart.

I think that is a wonderful idea... (Reply to this comment)

Naming your trees. Actually, Jackson & Perkins name their roses and invite consumers (for a hefty sum) to have a rose named after a special someone. I would love to have one named for my Mom, but it's very expensive since Jackson & Perkins are such a huge company. They do have many roses named for presidents and such... Thanks for the review. I love the idea:) Very creative...Gina

I must be beyond all hope then. I name trees that I haven't even had a hand in planting! :O Enjoyed the read though. :D

Tree Huggers Delight! (Reply to this comment)
by youguyfriday
Loved the review Pam. I will have to check back here often. I have been called a tree hugger jokingly by some of my friends. Your spirit and kindness shine through in this review. Good job.

You're not the only nut (Reply to this comment)
by AliventiAsylum
So to speak...
We have a tree we call the "Lazarus Tree". It's a horse-chestnut, not common for this area of the country. I planted the original in my parents backyard the year my best friend in high school died. When we bought this house, I took one of the chestnuts from my parent's tree and got it growing over here.
First year in the ground, one of the idiots my gardener employed ran over it with a lawnmower. I was heartbroken. My parents had moved by then, so I could not just go in the backyard and dig up another.
Something inside told me not to rip out the twig's remnants, and that next spring it renewed itself and even got leaves. It's not that big yet (only been 4 years now), but it's still growing.

How's that for a title? I thought this essay was delightful! And what a fun thing to do..naming the trees. I hope that they all bloom and blossom
this year, and fill your life with beauty!

The Ash Tree..... (Reply to this comment)

We used to have a huge ash tree at our place in Virginia. Sadly, this magnificent tree was so badly damaged by Hurricane Gloria that we had to have it cut down. I can relate to your feeling of loss. Tom Barnes

I too feel your pain (Reply to this comment)
by ifif1938
11 years ago after hurricane Andrew we lost a few of our most treasured exotic fruit and palm trees..one of them we nursed back to health with braces holding it up..Just last week, after a strong wind, it broke in half crashing into our pool slide and the pool..I felt just awful..Like losing a friend..

bubba and Elmo. Believe it or not I feel your pain. Reminded me of when I climbed up our hill and saw somebody had snapped one of the apple trees we planted. I was really sadden by it.
Thanks Pam this was really wonderful maybe we'll see some more of your creative writing now.
I really do appreciate you joining and the well wishes for Kathie. I am sure she will enjoy this piece.
