Re: Two points (Reply to this comment)
by Arthur.Rubin
Well, for Advisors, there is supposed to be a measure of quality as well as quantity of ratings and comments. I don't see how it could be implemented reasonably.
As for the keyword searches -- the "default" search is by topic keyword. I would like to be able to search by the keywords in the title of the review. IIRC, there was such a feature in the early days. I agree that exact topic search (at least in Books, Magazines, and Movies, and probably a few other topics where the product is the product title) would be Helpful.

Two points (Reply to this comment)
by Stephen_Murray
I don't think that "Advisors and Category Leads earn additional income, probably relating to the quality of the work they do" is right. For so-called advisors, it is quantity. I don't know if there are pay differentials among CLs or among advisors in a category, but I greatly doubt there is any metric of "quality" of advisor comments (there is a blunt one for top reviewers).
I don't understand what you can mean about not being able to search by title keyword. In the categories I frequent, the problem is more that whatever one types into search is treated as a keyword, so that exact matches are in a flood of inexact (Boolean) matches.

and not only because now I can use the word fuck.
I've never blocked anyone- I have no one on my block list- and I have been doing epinions for over a year. I find most people on epinions rather kind, some are pretty vocal in their point of view but hey- so am I.
Congrats on three years,

I have a Ph.D. in Mathematics from CalTech, and have over 10 papers published in peer-reviewed journals. What else do you want to know?
I'll get back to you Monday -- I'm taking off for a short vacation shortly.

i'd've given this essay a "Very Helpful" for the mobiprof links alone. That said, it was a well-written piece on its own; i've been a newbie here just long enough to appreciate guides to all the history i've missed.
cheers,

I think I'll leave it at that since a couple of your statements are so right on that leaving comments is something one must do very cautiously. jo

Congrats on three years,Arthur.
At the very end you mentioned a list for those you have blocked.
I would like to see a function that would say how many people have blocked me.No names, just a number that, like how much one has earned, would be available only for the member to see on their profile page.
"You have been blocked by {x} number of members."
Or something like that...
