Excellent, my friend. :-D

I am currently in the process of trying to determine what I should upgrade my old reliable Sony 27" Trinitron (circa 1993) to. The Sony is a great TV and has needed only a DC Power Supply ($70, installed) over the past decade. I will be relegating it to master bedroom (X-BOX?) status when I do get my new TV.

I truly like the idea of Plasma technology (OK, so I'm a Star-Trek fan), and I do fully expect it to be in its infancy (no plasma warp cores yet) --which you deem it to be. I am honestly surprised to see that apparently one can only expect 2 years of service from a plasma TV if used heavily. Do you mean if used 24/7 for 2 solid years? Hope so... Because if I end up dropping 6 large on one of these things and it dies in anything less than about 8 or ten years, I'll be quite LIVID. ;-D

That said, I think there is a decent chance I'll end up with a rear-projection set, and if not, than probably just the biggest Sony WEGA I can get my paws on. I want *BIG* for DVDs and sporting events (did you happen to notice that the Stanley Cup Playoffs this year were also available in a 16:9 HDTV format?! COOL! I'm told the broadcast allowed you to watch the entire ice at once, on a single (i.e. non-split) screen! I have GOT to get me one of these!!! (*Credit for cliche goes to: Will Smith, Independence Day)

Anyway, thanks for the excellent advice. Exactly what I was looking for --and a big help. :-)
