Not the best Graphics Card for your money
Written: Jul 17 '01
Pros:32 MB Ram, smooth color rendering, easy to install
Cons:incompatibility with some motherboard chipsets, not all games work well with it
The Bottom Line: If you have the right configuration in your computer regarding motherboard and chipset, this card is okay, but otherwise, be prepared for many problems.
We had bought the Rage Fury to replace our outdated Matrox card. The thought of having a 32MB card was very enticing. After installing the card, we noticed that the colors were richer and the resolution was very crisp and clear. But after awhile, there were problems that popped up. We tried to play the games that we were able to use on the low end graphics card, yet, they would not work right. At first we thought it was a particular game, but when game after game would not work right, we started wondering what was wrong. We searched over the internet to see if others had similar problems, and lo and behold, they did. It was particularly when a certain configuration of motherboard or chipset (VIA Apollo chipset) (FIC PA 2013 motherboard) was involved. I have tried downloading updated drivers, and they messed up things even worse, so I had to uninstall the drivers and put the original ones on. Certain icons in various programs such as Outlook Express, do not display right. Overall, it is a nice card, but if you take these certain glitches into consideration, it is not very desirable.
