Prepare to be nickel-and-dimed to death for crap service

- Unforgiving policies
- Pricing is nothing special
The Bottom Line: There are plenty of other cellular providers just itching to make you a deal that have better coverage and service (Verizon, Sprint, Cingular, etc)

US Cellular's rates for plans are certainly nothing amazing in the bargain department. Their prices are generally the same as or more than their competitors.
Coverage is terrible and scattered. I'm okay at home, but the second I so much as go down the street I'm roaming. After I'm in a roaming area I'll go home and my phone will still say I'm roaming, sometimes for a good 20 or so hours after getting home.
If you get US Cellular prepare to pay for absolutely everything. Most cellular carriers make you pay air time when you're in their ringtone stores, and, of course, make you pay for the ringtones themselves, but US Cellular is one of the very few providers that force you to pay $10 a month just for the privilege of looking at their stores.
Also, forget any kind of forgiveness. I underestimated how many minutes per month I would need and upped my monthly plan and they forced me to renew my contract. Some cellular providers will make you renew if you're decreasing your monthly payment, but no cellular provider I've ever heard of except US Cellular will make you renew a contract if you're upping your monthly payments.
Don't expect any deals either, US Cellular very rarely has any of the good deals/specials that their competitors have.
