The Bottom Line Sharing and caring is fun. Thanks Corpgent!!!
I actually received an invite in the mail! Thanks to Corpgent for asking me to join in the fun on this sharefest. I have been pondering what twenty facts I can share with my epinions family that I haven't all ready written about throughout my reviews and editorials. Well, let's give it a try. 1- God is the ruler of my life and without Him, I would not be here today. I am a firm believer in a power greater than myself who is definitely running this show called LIFE. 2- I am Aries, the Ram. I am a fire sign making me hot tempered at times, flirtatious, argumentative, a born leader, knowledgeable, a loyal friend, rambunctious, creative and talented. 3- I started working for the US Postal Service at age 19 and left there at age 40. I served my Uncle Sam proudly and earnestly. I left just before I allowed the postal service to completely kill my spirit. I AM A SURVIVOR. 4- I have a youthful appearance and I can be quite immature for my age. Oh, well (to the second part). I believe that having a childlike spirit helps to keep me young and in touch with my inner child, who continues to need nurturing and healing. 5- My life has been one tragedy after another from the time I was 11 years old when my maternal grandfather died from a massive heart attack while entering the doors of Flushing Hospital to see his cardiologist. It was at his funeral where I first learned about dark family secrets and how vindictive some family members can be. I AM A SURVIVOR. 6- My father was 6'2", thin and elegant. He had a full beard and moustach. He spoke English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Hebrew and some Chinese. He died unexpectedly from a fall down the front stoop of our home when I was almost 19 years old. I miss him terribly. My mother is a Survivor. 7- My favorite vacation hot spot is Virginia Beach, Va. If I could I would live out my life on the beach. When I watch Cast Away I imagine myself on that island with Tom. And, it's all good. 8- I am blessed to have three children. My mom had five! MOTHERS ARE SURVIVORS. 9- As a young child, I was ill all the time with one ailment after another. I missed a great deal of school due to frequent hospitalizations for Sickle Cell Anemia trait. Back in the late sixties and early seventies, SCA was a death sentence. 10- Medical "experts" told my parents that I would not have menstrual cycles, that I would not live to see age 18 and that I would never bare children. Well, poo poo on them!! 11- My oldest daughter made me a grandmother when I was 39 years old. Although I was unprepared for it, I wouldn't change a thing. I could not begin to imagine my life without Candace. 12- I have been married three times. The first two were practice for the real thing. My first two husbands are Survivors!! hee hee 13- My family bred and sold German Shepherd puppies to supplement my dad's income. My hubby bought me a 9 week old German Shepherd puppy when I was discharged from the hospital this past January to help combat my depression. My pup's name is Clyde and I love him. 14- I love all types of music, Latin jazz and classic jazz being my favorites. I saw Mongo Santamaria in concert at Newark Symphony Hall for my twenty-eighth birthday. 15- Dancing has always been my favorite past time. I can mambo, samba, hustle, and act a fool whenever the mood hits me. My brothers, sisters and I used to travel around way back in the seventies to enter and win hustle contests. Remember those?? 16- Education was always stressed in my household. My parents were extremely strict and they did not accept grades lower than a B. I received A's and I graduated high school with a 3.75 GPA. And, I was often accused of being "the teacher's pet". 17- I recently updated my profile page. This for me is a great accomplishment. I was HTML illiterate until 4 days ago!! (thanks Jo) Whoever said you can't teach an old dog new tricks?? 18- My youngest daughter made me a grandmother for the second time the following year after Candace was born!!! Little Alyse looks and acts just like me when I was her age. God bless her. Grandparents are definitely Survivors! 19- The first movie that made me cry was Imitation of Life. I was around 13 years old when I first saw it. I never knew how powerful cinema was until the end of that movie came. The funeral procession, the white horses, Mahalia Jackson belting out "Troubles of The World" and the little wannabe-white African-American daughter crying out to her dead mother, "Mama, I do love you!! Mama!! I am your daughter!!! Ma maaaa!!!" In death, her mother found peace because in life, her daughter had broken her heart passing for white. Just writing about it brings tears to my eyes. Thank God I am nearly finished here. 20- My fifteen year old son received an acoustic guitar from his grandmother 6 months ago. My hubby and I just bought him his first electric guitar. I am so proud of my boy because he is teaching himself to play!! He recently auditioned for the school principal and was asked to play the Star Spangled Banner this June at the senior graduation! He will play it Jimmy Hendrix style. Oh, yea!! Thanks for reading . This actually was a lot more fun than I thought it would be.
