The Holmes Ultra Quiet heater is very quiet — even during the sporadic instances when it actually works.
The 1-Touch control is confusing and difficult to use. There is no simple on and off switch; instead, there is a high/low setting and a series of temperature lights that supposedly control its operation — all run by repeatedly pushing the 1-Touch button.
As I write this, the temperature at my desk is 67 degrees F. Despite this, however, the heater, which I have set on high at 75 degrees has just shut down thinking it's too hot. When I attempt to reset it, it simply flashes a warning light at me saying it's had enough. There is no way to override this problem. In about ten minutes, I'll be able to reset the heater and it will run for four or five minutes before, once again, shutting down thinking it's too hot.
When it's actually running, if I make the mistake of bumping the heater or picking it up to move it, it will shut down. Once again, this shut down cannot be reversed. It will simply refuse to operate for about ten minutes — stubbornly flashing it's annoying red light at any attempt to reset it.
You're probably thinking that I just bought a lemon. Well, that's what I thought when I exchanged the first one. The second is exactly this same and just as temperamental.
I will be returning this heater for a refund.
