20 Facts About Me (Corpgent's Write-off)
Apr 06 '03
The Bottom Line I just babbled on about myself for almost 20 minutes! Yikes!
First, thanks so much to Corpgent for hosting such a neat write-off. Although we may read tons of stuff our fellow epinionators write, we rarely know as much about them as we'd like. Hope everyone enjoys getting to know me a little better.
1. My husband of 4 months is in the Army Reserve and has been called up for the war in Iraq. He has been gone for 2 months now and being away from him has colored every single moment of my life. I cry at the drop of a hat and am generally no fun to be around. I love you, Kirkie. Please come home soon.
2. My parents were divorced when I was two years old and I've lived most of my life with a stepdad who treats me and my brother like we're the stupidest, most worthless people on earth.
3. I wrote a one-act play while in college and had it produced at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Temple Theatre. It was called 'Land of the Purple Dragons' and was about child abuse.
4. I have written three novels and hundreds of short stories and poems. As of yet, none of them have been published, but my goal/dream is to be a published novelist.
5. I once lived with a man who tried to kill my cat, threatened the life of my ex boyfriend through his 'mafia' family and cut his arms open with knives. I moved out in the middle of the day while he was at work, had to have an escort to work for a week and am still frightened that he'll come back to find me.
6. I have had issues with food since the age of 12 and have just recently, at the age of 26, started to learn to eat like a normal person. At one point, I was down to 105 pounds (I'm five foot eight).
7. I love my cat, Sh itty (yes, that's her name), more than I've loved most people.
8. I love being alone and rarely ever get bored. I generally like being alone better than with most people (this excludes my husband). I think my love of being alone has assisted me through this time without Kirk.
9. I love stupid movies, pointless TV shows and fluffy books and feel no shame for it. There's enough depressing crap in the world. Sometimes I just need to laugh.
10. I was very unpopular in grade school and got teased so badly that I would stay up all night crying and dreading the next school day. This has given me a lifelong aversion to 'popular' people and the 'in' thing to do.
11. I hate cleaning and am generally a messy person. I have had many falling outs with roommates over this habit. I am also a very messy eater and my friends know that a meal just isn't a meal until Angie spills on herself.
12. I tan even though I know it's terrible for my skin.
13. I have read fourteen books since Kirk left two months ago and I'm saving each book I read while he is gone. They have their own special shelf on my bookcase (if he's gone much longer, I'll need an entire bookcase for them).
14. I am very good with spelling and grammar and am often correcting the way people speak or write. This is probably my most annoying habit.
15. I absolutely love professional hockey and have since I was in high school. My favorite team is the Philadelphia Flyers. Since I'm from Nebraska, everyone seems to think this is strange.
16. My brother is a County Attorney and every time he calls me, he asks when I am going to law school.
17. I get terrible headaches, have sensitive nerve endings in my neck, knock knees, a herniated esophagus, eroded cartilage, once had a twisted intestine, have had two surgeries on my cervix and I believe I'm developing an ulcer. And I'm only 26! Yay!
18. My husband works at the Nebraska State Penitentiary (when not with the Army) on death row. In his unit, he had the guy from the movie Boys Don't Cry. He always has very interesting stories. (I know this isn't a fact about me, per se, but it's a lot more interesting than some of my facts!!) Here is a fact about me: I am very proud of him for having TWO very stressful and dangerous jobs. Did I mention I'm getting an ulcer?
19. I have had the same best friend since we were 12 years old and am very grateful I've found one good friend.
20. In case you haven't noticed, I miss my husband very, very much and have never been so scared in my life. If you're a praying person, please keep us in your prayers. If you're not, I appreciate your thoughts. Although I have never been a supporter of the war, I'm a big supporter of our troops. I wish protestors knew that Bush doesn't listen to them but our troops and their families do--the last thing they need to hear is that the people they are trying to protect don't support them. (I'll get off my soapbox now).
