On January 25, 2007 I decided that I needed to buy a Chi flat iron (after much research here and on a few other websites) but the Chi is not a cheap item. Well, I did my Froogle.com search and found that the cheapest place that sold the item was Folica.com. They beat the next cheapest price by about $10 plus they offered free shipping and no tax and a couple free add ons.
When I went to the site it was extremely easy to navigate and I found the item I wanted with no problem. They had several other products on the site that I could compare to but I already knew what I wanted.
When I looked up Folica.com here on Epinions (prior to my purchase) there were mixed reviews on the place - so I was hesitant. The first thing I did was call their customer service line to see if I could get through. Well I did - there was a bit of a phone loop that kept offering you to leave a message or press one to continue to try to reach a representative and after about 4 or 5 loops (less than 5 minutes) I had a live person on the phone. She was very nice and I told her I just wanted to make sure I would get a live person if I had a problem with an order.
So I placed my order online (no shipping charged and no tax!) and received an email confirmation that the order was placed. I used regular USPS shipping and received my item within 5 business day. I was supposed to get two free gifts with my purchase - one was a make-up brush travel pouch holder thing and I received that but I was also supposed to get a free pouch/mat for the flat iron I purchased. I got the make up brush holder/case but not the pouch mat and I honestly have not even called about it yet.
Someone said that they get a lot of spam from Folica.com via email but I have not received any emails from them that did not pertain to my order so perhaps they have changed what they do.
Overall, ordering was easy, confirmation was prompt and delivery was on-time. The product arrived in the box and was in perfect working condition. Folica.com's price was the absolute best on this product too (the Chi flat iron for $84.95)so I would use them again if they had the lowest price on an item again.
Update - 03/05/07
So I checked in with Folica.com via email to find out what happened to the other free item I thought I was supposed to receive with my order. The email said that I would not get the item free because "due to the deeply discounted price of the Chi Original the heat proof pouch promotion does not apply to that item." They offered to sell me that item at a discounted price but I did not want it if I had to pay for it so I did not buy it.
The reason I am letting you know this is that the site was a little confusing to me. When you click on the banner that says you get the free mat with purchase of select brand flat irons (it is a heat resistant mat for flat irons) it lists the Chi as one brand you get it with. HOWEVER, below where it shows a picture of the Chi I purchased (only pink, which I now know is a different price), it lists in small font "$109.95 to $144.99" - so that is supposed to tell me that I only get the free mat when I buy one within that range. Well- I did not catch on to that so I think it is slightly misleading but since we are talking about a cheap mat I am not going to sweat it. But I do think the site would benefit from making that clear so there is no misunderstanding.
Oh by the way - my Chi is still working great!
