Pros: Lots of features, most areas easy to clean
Cons: Burner grates and sealed burner covers very difficult to clean
The Bottom Line: I would buy it again, but I would make sure and get the black burner covers and grates.

| krame00's Full Review: KitchenAid Slide-In Gas Range |
OK. I have to admit that when we moved into our home 6 months ago, it had an electric range. I was in misery. So, I could have bought the most worthless gas range on the planet and I would have written a good review for it. But that being said, I do feel obliged to write about my new KitchenAid stove. After all, it is my duty as an e-pinions member to write reviews as well as read them!!
I love this range. The one I bought has the convection feature, the burners with different BTU output, and is self cleaning.
The things I love: Most of the range is easy to clean (with one exception, please see "Things I don't love so much", below). The sealed burners are a nice plus in that they keep the range from looking like a food collector. It is self cleaning - need I say more about that? All of the controls are touch activated and are covered by a glass plate, so there is no wear and tear or cleaning to worry about. The range comes with a very nice broiler/baking pan which is a great addition to my cookware. I also use the delay start function quite a bit. The burner grates are very heavy duty, and can handle all of my cast iron skillets with no problem. I also like the fact that the burners each have a different BTU output, although I would trade one of my simmer burners for one with a BTU even higher than the highest one that comes equipped.
Things I don't love so much: The burner grates and burner covers! Those things are soo hard to clean. I think that these are a design flaw, because they are grey, and the grey doesn't hide the normal wear and tear that black does. I cook with cast iron, and the oils from the pan seem to bond with the material that the grates and covers are made of. It takes a half an hour and soft scrub to clean up after one meal. Who has time for that? The only other thing that bothers me is that the oven is a little small. I would rather sacrifice the drawer space in the bottom to put a broiler there, and have more oven room.
