The Bottom Line These are among some of my more significant experiences.

!!!!UPDATE!!!! My husband and I are going to have a baby. DUE APRIL 2nd!!! Austin Richard - yep, it's a boy! Just thought I would share!!!!UPDATE!!!!

I received a very intriguing, yet brief email asking me to participate in this write off. After I read a few of the other ones, I thought, “Sure, why not???” So here goes:

1. I was born in Parma, OH on June 9th, 1972. Though it was almost summer, there was a freak snowstorm the day I was born. My parents had a small farm and I grew up being constantly reminded that I was born the day all the crops died. Oh well…

2. I moved to Eastpointe, MI when I was 18 months old. Lived in the same house for the greater part of 22 years.
3. Part 1. Had a great childhood. The youngest of 5 children in a blended family. Allow me to explain in Part 2.

Part 2. My mother, after living the first 14 years of her life in an abusive home with an alcoholic father and stepmother, ran away to get married. Her stepmother signed a consent form. I guess the woman despised my mother. So my mother at age 14 was married. Her first husband, a corporal in the Army, married her when he was 18. After 6 years of marriage, my mother at age 20 had her first child, my sister Dawn. Then 4 years later she had my brother Mike. After about 4 more years my mother realized she had married a man much like her father. Abusive and alcoholic. My mother filed for divorced after she was awoken at gunpoint by her then husband with a shotgun in one hand and a bottle of Jack Daniels in the other. My mother was told by him that if she ever took his children to church again, he would kill her. My mother had just recently started going to a local church where she had met a lot of kind people. My mother’s first husband was an atheist. My mother took her chances and the children and left him. Meanwhile….. My father married his first wife at the age of 18 and had 2 children with her. Lora and Kathy. Unfortunately, I don’t have much more to offer about his first marriage. My father never really spoke to me about any of it and my sisters had a very jilted vantage point thanks to their mother.

Part 3. In the summer of 1967, my mother was introduced to my father and shortly there after they were married in the summer of 1968. In a nutshell that is what I mean by blended family. 3 half sisters and 1 half brother and no so-called full siblings. But I’ll take what I can get! J

4. I was raised in a Christian home. At the age of 6 I accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior and was baptized there after. My faith is the foundation of my life. Without God in my life, I don’t know how I would get by. I was raised Baptist, but all in all I am a Christian. I don’t need a specific denomination. I know that Jesus is with me always. I find great comfort and strength in having Him in my life.

5. I have 14 nieces and nephews. Nikki – 24, Derek – 21, Ron – 20, Dana – 19, Kevin – 17, Cody 㪨, Kara – 16, Katrina – 15, Matt – 14, Brad – 14, Krystle – 12, Kendal – 11, Mikey – 10, Kaitlyn – 4. And yes I did have to count them to make sure I had everyone! J 2 of my nieces and 1 of my nephews attend college. 1 of my nephews is in the Marines. He just graduated from boot camp. I would appreciate anyone that has the time to keep him in their prayers. Ron is his name. Thanks.

6. My father and I were very close from birth to about age 10. From age 11 through age 20, we were at each other’s throats. My mom always told me we were cut from the same cloth. Stubborn, short fused, but very passionate, cloth. When I turned 21, Dad and I started getting along better. On December 25, 1993 at 12:25 AM, Richard Harry Schell, my father, passed away. Not a day goes by where I don’t wish I could re-live those 9 years. I truly cherish him. He is the greatest man I ever knew.

7. After dating several “so-so” guys and some “total jerks”, by age 23 I had basically decided marriage wasn’t in the cards for me. I was cynical and wanted nothing to do with it. I figured if I couldn’t find the “perfect guy” (using my dad as the ruler), I wasn’t going to settle! One evening, I was browsing chat rooms on IRC and stumbled into this one room I had never been in before. I went by the handle “KitKat” at the time, solely based on my favorite candy bar. I didn’t like cats (key word is DIDN’T). I popped in and out of this one room called “hot tub”. On my way out of the room I was sent a private message by someone with the handle “Chills”. “Don’t I know you?” he said. “Don’t you have anything better than that? Please!” I replied and rolled by eyes at the same time. “Is this so-in-so?” he said (some girl he had been chatting with at the time…no need to mention her name! ) “Nope, Sorry!” I said. “well, sorry then” he replied. “No harm, take it easy.” I said. 10 seconds later “Want to chat?” he said. “Why?” I said…being rather snotty… “To pass the time if nothing else. Have anything better to do?” He said a little snotty. “Fair enough! What’s your name….” We chatted for about 3 more hours on line, then eventually on the phone that same night for a couple of hours. 1 Week later we were officially dating long distance. 4 Months later we met in person, 2 months after that we were engaged. 4 months after that we were picking out china for our bridal registration. 2 months after that he graduated from the University of Central Florida and he moved from Florida to Michigan and we were married! January 3, 1998. Five years later we’re still going strong! Yep, we’re one of those whirl wind Internet romances…gone right! J I am very blessed to have such a wonderful man.

8. I have a stepson named Alex. He’s wonderful and almost 10! Scott and I don’t know if we’re going to have any children of our own. I’ll just leave it at that. Alex lives with his mom and step dad in Rhode Island. Scott was never married to Alex’s mom. And we’ll just leave it at that. Alex spends his summers and every other Christmas and/or Winter Break with us. It’s wonderful…but we wish it could be more…

9. Ok….Lets talk Animals…. In February of 1998 Scott and I bought a little fuzzy kitten and Alex named her Princess Jasmine. A month went by and we thought that our little kitten had gotten lonely. So Scott and I decided to get her a companion...a sister...then along came Ginger...They were best buds, then Alex, Scott and I were on our way to the beach and we thought we would stop at this little pet store on the way. Then Scott saw him...this little spry completely gray kitten, and he happened to be a boy, but Scott fell in love with him....So we brought little Logan home and skipped the beach, obviously... Then in our procrastinating way..we failed to get any of our cats "fixed". Logan, the stud managed to get both of our kitties in trouble and they delivered 2 weeks apart from each other... And in Ginger's litter were Kafka...this adorable all black kitty with unbelievable charm and Heather the cutest little gray kitty you've ever seen...she's still kitten size 4 years later!! And that is the story of how we ended up with 5 cats! We have 2 dogs also, Ricky (lab/golden mix) and jazz (Sheppard mix). Yes we have a zoo. I had never liked cats, I was the dog person and Scott was the cat person. Now I am both. He still favors kitties. Just so there is no confusion, we are very clean people, with very clean pets. Just because we have a collage of pets, doesn’t mean you’re going to hear about us on the news one day. I told my husband, we are DONE!

10. My husband and I on April 1, 2002 purchased a beautiful 3-bedroom craftsman/farmhouse style home. The house has an authentic Retro 50’s kitchen. It’s beautiful. My husband and I are looking forward to a long wonderful life in our beautiful home.

Additional info: I have been a secretary for 10 + years. I work for a large hospital and have been for 8 years. I also work at a Ford dealership part time for some extra cash. Prior to working at the hospital, I worked for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. I am pursuing a degree in Human Resources. My husband is a middle school teacher and has taught at the same school for 5 years. We lead very busy lives, but are blissfully happy. I hope you have enjoyed reading more about me. Sorry if I rambled. Unfortunately, I haven’t even scratched the surface.

Thanks for reading!

Liz
