Chad- that was fantastic!!! Just one question- do you think Meg Ryan has fake lips or what? And as for Royal Tennenbaum's and Rushmore- I think you can do just as good a job as Mike!! You have my vote of confidence!!

I also really liked this review, especially since I've seen Rocky Horror Picture Show exactly once because I'm supposed to, and now I get to be normal. Random other notes: I agree with Lori that River's Edge is an excellent movie. I think you should've mentioned RuPaul somewhere, whether or not s/he's in movies. And I think we should put Robin (name begins with r!) Williams, who _can_ act, into a tied-up paper bag and see how long it takes him to get out. We should keep him away from the Patch Adams script while he tries, though.

Jolly good - the spirit of rebellion lives on! Rowr! For the boringly uniconoclastic of the world, cinema may not have an 'r' in it - but 'lumiere' does, and that must count for something, non?
And on the subject of things at least passingly French, props for including Kieslowski's Red (lessee if that html comes out okay!), which I think is the best of the trilogy although Blue is my favourite, if that makes any sense (hey, Red could've made it into your entry even with its French title, Rouge...some things are just meant to be, obviously!).
Anyway, smashing job here, and keep on ragin' against the machine!

One of my friends put Meg Ryan at the top of his hottest women list and another friend made fun of him mercilessly saying, "Meg Ryan is hot like your mother!"
I, too, have fallen asleep during many a Renoir film.
Rocky Horror Picture Show: If you're normal, you've seen this because it's required that you see at least once in life.
I've seen it in bits and pieces at various parties, but never the whole thing. Hell, I've never claimed to be normal. At this point, I'm not seeing it as a matter of priciple for that very reason. They have a dress-up sing-along thing for The Sound of Music in London. Not sure what's creepier...
Rock on,
Becky

Dirk_Lime:
What a bold entry. Your words have never been bolder. Well, the first half wasn't so bold. But good golly, the second half was bold up the yin-yang!
Actually, I skipped over most of this review, only pausing to notice how many times you linked to my reviews. When I did deign to read closely, here are the parts that made me smile most:
Ricky Jay: Yeah, so I'm using his first name, so sue me. You can't have a dictionary without a little Ricky Jay action. Master magician and some time film star.
First name, last name, middle name (which is, incidentally, "Don't Lose That Number"), Ricky Jay is the man. The second entry my copy of Life Stories: Profiles From The New Yorker is a 29-page dissection of Jay, called 'Secrets of the Magus'. Well worth the read.
The Rock (actor): I'm not sure how you just get to call yourself "The Rock". But I'm also not going to argue with this guy any time soon. My resolution? Never see any of his films, ever. That will totally passive-aggresively show him!
I have a script I'm working on. In it, The Rock has to save a U.S. Governor, played by The Body, from a malevolent Evil Genius, played by The Donald, and his homicidal henchman, played by The Juice. Cedric The Entertainer plays the comic-relief sidekick. Bruce Springsteen (The Boss) and Matt Johnson (The The) have signed on to compose the score. Should be a blockbuster.

On Richard Roeper (Reply to this comment)

I understand that he and Ebert have good TV chemistry, but couldn't Ebert have selected a person in Chicago who really deals with film criticism? Norman Mark was a fill-in after Siskel's passing, and I still don't get why the job of the other chair didn't go to him. Other Chicago critics work on TV as well. He could have gone with one of them. Oh well. Thanks for sharing!
Sincerely, Pat
