We purchased our Rival icecream maker at Walmart when my wife was having cravings for icecream after having a baby. She wanted homemade icecream in particular and at this price, the Rival churn is great value.

We found the setup very simple, just put a few parts together and it's ready to roll. The churn came with a couple of different icecream flavor mixes and a packet of rock salt. We found that some of the flavors taste a little too artificial but there are some good ones. I guess you just have to try them out and see which onces you like.

The process is simple. Mix up the icecream mix and put it in the "bucket". Then throw some ice and rock salt in the mina container around the bucket. Turn it on and give it about 40 minutes and that's it. Too easy!

Two words of caution about the churn is that the "bucket" on our model was made out of some sort of metal which when it was wet and combined with the rock salt, tended to develop surface rust pretty quickly. So make sure and clean up after you've made the icecream and rinse and dry the metal part as soon as you can.

The other thing to watch out for is the section which houses the motor is quite heavy compared to the rest of the unit. On our model, the heavy part was the bottom part but if you're not careful when moving it, it has the tendency to fall off as the rest of the unit is so light.

On the whole, a great product which is easy to use and makes great icecream.
