I was hoping never to see the word "Octopussy" in print again. I always felt it gave people unfair expectations, because most people who have one, simply can't claim the "Octo" prefix. (I was but a child then, and unfortunately I thought that was so goddam funny, I had to write it all over again) Thanks for the therapy.......
And the O-so-right-on review. Jude

Aren't you a cute little money?

Now, this is either a form of slang a la Swingers, or you missed out the letter 'k', 'kay?

The real Oversight for me is one of my favorite directors, Nagisa Oshima.

I can easily forgive no mention of O Lucky Man, the sequel to If....

Nice to see you back on the streets, strutting your stuff.

A lovely entry in our Crispy's project here -- entertaining yet periodically informative, and Ordinary People was indeed better than Raging Bull so you go. I suppose you're probably right about Gary Oldman, but the best movie i ever saw him in was Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, and i thought he erred on the side of underacting there. Though i got used to it.

Have no good movies had Ovaltine or Octagonal or Onomatopoeia as the first word in their titles? I'm disappointed. On the other hand, i liked the Owl and the Pussycat, so what do i know? (Don't answer that)

cheers,
- Brian

Something weird about the letter O, I've never really been able to put my finger on it.

There was that movie called "O" but it was pretty bad. Not terrible, but bad enough that I never got it up in the reviewing department. I'm surprised ya didn't try to sneak in OO7 ..lol!

Great stuff as always,

One of the best genderbending films I've ever seen, with a gorgeous Tilda Swinton in the lead role. Nice costumes, lovely witty script, and all the rest. -- Telynor

One Million Years B.C.... Welch too damn perfect. I hate her for it.

Therefore, by including her in this, I hate you by association.

You suck.

ok you suck marvelously, granted, but you still suck.

Dan, when you take to the keyboard, you make the rest of us look baaad. That's why we like you so.

I loved Olivier in those later roles, too. Marathon Man and The Boys From Brazil? Awesome.

I heard that you do indeed rawk.

Boy are you in trouble !!

First, you are late, if only fashionably so...

And then you fail to link fore and aft to those adjoining you in this "dictionary of Crispy's madness". I hear he is raging through Epinions, wielding a 'bastard sword' (borrowed from Doc Devience, no doubt) looking to spill the blood of the heinous and harried.

Be careful my good man...

you said...
"So stop hatin' on Ordinary People this instant!"

You win my un-dieing admiration and respect for that comment alone. And for featuring One Flew Over . . ., and On Golden Pond, and On The Waterfront and . . .

Very..nicely..done !!

You movie people raawwwk !!

Nuts. You see, I liked having "Oh" on my list a lot more when it was totally random. Now, the fun has been stripped away.

As for the fact that I can't tell Taxi Driver and Raging Bull apart... Well that both speaks badly of me in general and speaks to my general tragic reorientation towards TV in recent months for professional reasons.

That being said, having read your dictionary entry, I've written no circles around you.

George-

Yes, that's right - Bridge on the River Quay...

The movie you're thinking of is called The Bridge Over the Brothers Quay. It's about a Japanese internment camp, where a group of POW British soldiers are forced to build a bridge using only hallowed-out plastic doll heads. The stop-motion animation is flawless and gripping.

Cheers…

Fienberg-

Oh, Sadaharu: The all-time Japanese home run leader with 868. No idea why he's in a film dictionary, but when I do the writing, I make the rules.

Let me help:

Doriimu sutajiamu (a.k.a. Dream Stadium) (1997), directed by Kazuki Omori, features Sadaharu Oh in a supporting role. Haven't seen it, so I can't confirm or deny the rumours that Oh takes out the entire Japanese mafia using only his patented flamingo batting stance. Still, I hear he's quite gripping in the tender love scenes.

Lovely little trip down O's memory lane. As usual, you've written circles (pun intended) around all of us.

That would be "Bridge on the River Kwai." Alas that "B" person gets all the luck. Probably "Over the Rainbow" does count, in fact, and perhaps I'll add it when I update later tonight. Thanks for stopping by!
