The Bottom Line I think it's a good thing to make a self-assessment every so often. It's good to share with the community. Besides, it's fun.

This is a great idea that I found out about by reading someone else's response to an idea that came from Corpgent. Here is a quick way for you to get in on the action, too. http://www.epinions.com/content_3202850948
I've had so much enjoyment from reading 20 Things About Me written by others on this website. I decided not to try to be "literary" and instead, to just write down whatever 20 things about myself pop into my head. These 20 things are not in the order of importance...some of them are not important at all.
1.I own what I call "The Magical Library" and it consists of over 5,000 books. In order for a book to be included in The Magical Library it has to be beautiful or magical in some way. Many hundreds of the books are children's literature and picture books.

2.I have ten cats named as follows: Loki, Flora, Hazel, Lily, Firefly, Holly, Curry, Latte, Daisy, Sage-Puff. Daisy was a stray and she is not right in the head. She licks herself raw so she has to wear a baby sleeper. It helps her. She purrs a lot and is a sweet and happy cat, but she's just a little wacky. Sage-Puff is her son (she was pregnant when I found her.) Isn't Sage-Puff a dumb name? He was named Sage because he was the 2nd in birth order in a four kitten litter that I named Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme. He looks like the cat named Puff in the Dick and Jane readers that I had in grade school. (I better stop with the cats...this isn't 20 things about my cats.) Cat people ARE all nuts.

3.I have a huge garden including a magical circle with a World Tree ash growing in the center. I am a pagan.

4.I love to travel and my best friend, Jools and I have been to Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana, Wyoming, Idaho, Oregon, Washington, California, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, Texas, Arkansas, Missouri, Louisiana, and Mississippi. We liked South Dakota, Wyoming and Louisiana the most, but how can you really pick a favorite when they are all so beautiful? Northern California is heavenly.

5. I have four sons that I love more than anything. I am completely overwhelmed by this love and if I think about it for more than a few seconds, I get depressed by my inadequacy. How's that for psycho?

6. I need knee replacement surgery but I do not have any medical insurance.

7.I was born in Ohio where I lived until I was 11. I did some more growing up in the San Fernando Valley of Southern California...that's right...a Valley Girl. I did more growing up in the farmland of Wisconsin.

8. My first fiance' was killed in a car accident. (I was 19 at the time.) My first husband and the father of my kids was also killed in a car accident. (I was 28 at the time.)

9. My father's side of the family is all from Wales and he is the only one of his family who lives in the United States. I love Wales and I think it is the most beautiful place on Earth, at least in the top twenty...but that's another list. I have visited Wales many times and it is the one place that I really feel at home.

10.I am a really, really good cook and baker. However, I am addicted to pizza...from generic national chains...how embarrassing.

11. I am a vegetarian for health and for compassion reasons and for environmental reasons.

12. I love movies but I avoid movies with gratuitous violence or very depressing themes because I have a very hard time shaking those feelings off afterward.

13. I love water...maybe because I'm Pisces...I don't know. I live on a bend in a river where a thin peninsula creates a little lily-pad crowded lagoon. Cormorants and great blue herons nest there. The blue heron tree is amazing and I wish you could see it. It has eight HUGE nests in its branches and in spring huge graceful birds sit on the nests. It really is an astonishing sight. Sometimes I gather up discarded wing feathers or shell fragments from the ground at the base of the tree. My youngest son's totem animal is the Great Blue Heron so I give the things I find to him for his birthday.

14. Whenever there is a meteor shower, my friend Jools and I take cots out in the country and find a lonely road where we set up the cots. We bundle up against the cold and lie back on pillows and we watch the stars and talk.

15. My husband, John, is the sweetest most loving person that I have ever known. I didn't meet him until I was 44 so perhaps it took me that long to be ready for such a loving person. He takes very good care of me and he adores me which is something I always wanted...but it is strange when you actually get it. He has long hair, all the way down to the small of his back. I love long hair. When I was a teenager and dating, my father once made my boyfriend get two haircuts in the same day if he wanted to see me. I cut off all of my hair as a protest.

16. I have mousy brown hair but I have a red-headed soul. Oh No...I am the kind of person who could write 20 lame things about hair...I didn't know that about myself until now.

17. I am really, really sad and angry that Leonard Peltier is still in prison and I hope you will learn about him and try to help free him.

18. I love poetry...reading it and writing it. I could give you another list of 20 here, but instead I will just say I love Carl Sandburg, Edna St. Vincent Millay, Amy Lowell and the haiku of Basho, Issa, and Buson.

19. I think my political persuasion is best described as Anarchist. I am radically liberal.

20. I would prefer to "Just say YES" instead of just saying NO.

There. That was fun. I hope you make a list of 20 things about yourself, too.
