About Me: Your not-so-typical law student with a lot to say.

WOW! SO MANY MINUTES, NO CONTRACT, REASONABLE PRICE ... I LOVE IT!

Pros:Cost, minutes, option to not roam, clarity, good coverage, and free long distance.
Cons:Pay for roaming
The Bottom Line: Sprint has come a long way to provide quality service, great coverage, and reasonable prices.

For a while, I was a Verizon customer. Before that, an AT&T customer. But I just couldn't resist the 2000+ night/weekend minutes promotions of Sprint. So I caved, though I still have Verizon (contracts! ugh!).

Contracts

I opted out of the SPRINT contract (you have the option of undertaking a contract, if you wish to) and the fact that I am not bound to this service nor will I be penalized if I choose to stop service is worth the extra $10/month. Verizon as well as AT&T require contracts (unless you go prepaid). And the termination fees are steep: approximately $175 for Verizon and $10 per month left on your AT&T contract.

Cost & Minutes

Yes, I live on my cell phone. I am pleased with the thousands of minutes that Sprint offers. My Verizon plan is 180 minutes for $35/month. Compare that to the $39.99/month I pay for 2500 minutes with Sprint! Not to mention, free long distance!

Free & Clear - Is it?

It absolutely is! I am slowly transitioning from landline to my Sprint Samsung 8500 as a main mode of communication The long distance is free and I'm not worried that my voice will come through fuzzy or digitized. Sprint has definitely gotten it's act together in creating a service comparable to landline service.

Roaming & Coverage

The only thing Sprint lacks is the "No Roaming Fees" that other services offer. If you want Sprint and don't want to be charged an arm and a leg for roaming (fees: $0.35-0.69 approximately), use that nifty little feature on your Sprint phone that allows you to change your roam mode from Automatic (meaning it will find any available network and charge applicable roaming charges) to Sprint PCS Only. Since having this plan, I've set the roam mode to Sprint PCS. So I am not too concerned with roaming fees.
A downside to all this is your minutes and free long distance don't apply when you roam off the network. But like I said, I set my phone to SPRINT PCS roam mode so I doubt I'll encounter this situation.

Others have complained about Sprint's supposed sporadic coverage. Being that I live in a major metropolitan area and rarely travel out into the middle of nowhere, I have not had any problems finding Sprint coverage wherever I am (I do travel often along the East Coast).

Customer Service

I've heard horror stories about customer service. Horrid little anecdotes of being left on hold for hours and rude service. In my case, I haven't experienced anything of the sort. I've called Sprint on numerous occasions (to help activate a phone, billing, etc.) and the representative was quick, efficient, and courteous. Also, Sprint allows you to manage your account online so you can bypass the chances of being put on hold waiting to speak to customer service.

Overall, Sprint presents a great service package and I would recommend it to anyone who cares about quality calls and loads of minutes at a reasonable price.
