Loved reading about your life. As a mother of five I have such respect for all the teachers and my oldest has benefited from his special ed teachers so much over the years.

Twins! (Reply to this comment)
by Thorbjore
My twin uncles were in the service together but in different places -- one in Cambodia and the other in Okinawa. Both broke their glasses the same day and both set out for different frames (so they wouldn't have the same frames any more). When they were reunited they saw that they picked out the same brand and the same design. They were ripping angry with each other and tried to figure out who got his first, but the day was exactly the same and the times were so close as far as they could remember (around lunch time or something equally specific and yet vague) that they called it a draw. Amazing. My uncle Reggie handed his glasses to his mother once and asked some guy if he was "Steve." When "Steve" said yes, Reggie threw him a punch square in the nose. He said, "That's for sucker punching my brother in the tenth grade." It was 7 years later. Yes! Twins are something alright!
That was a fun read -- I'm really enjoying this write-off! :)

you. We have a lot in common. I am kind of frugal as well, and get harrassed a lot by friends because I want to use coupons when we go out. I also prefer comedies and sappy chic flicks over all else. They don't even have to be good, that's the scary thing. I will watch other kinds of movies if I am with other people not while I'm alone I like my movies simple and light. You are so right there is to much depression on going in the real world. Thank you for sharing it was an enjoyable read.

Take care,

New York, Irish and skates in the house. What's not to like? I'm an Irish native New Yorker who rollerblades around his house everyday (I have wooden floors.) It gives you unbelievable blade control.

Wow twin sisters? I'm so jealous! I've always wanted a twin sister (I have a younger brother).

Anyway, it was great to read about you. I might write one about myself, even though I havent written as many reviews as many people here. Gotta start somewhere, right? :)

btw I used to think I collect Beanie Babies, but comparing with your 500 babies, I think my 20+ is really nothing. :P

Finally.. sooo nice to meet you here! :)

It is fascinating that both you and your sister married brothers. My mother and aunt did as well and it is weird sometimes looking at my cousins one, who is a dead ringer for me..( I think I'm smarter though). I too am originally from NYC ( 77th and West End Ave), drove a 280 ZX for a while. I too should probably act my age, but my son reminds me that it is that ability to stay engaged that makes it interesting to be around to see what happens next!

I howled at your in-line skates and Counterfeit story....very funny stuff. It's great to find out a little more about you; I have enjoyed reading your work!

Nice to know a bit more about you. I was going to mention the spelling in 15 but I see you're on top of the situation!

Spending too much time on this site? Hmm...sounds familiar!

to be mentioned in your review. I had at least 30 and couldn't put mine in, however, you know how much you and Milton mean to Len and I.

I even found out a couple of new things about you today. Thank you so much for sharing with us.

Can't wait until you come to live in Florida. We will be meeting up. You can count on it.

Hugs, love, and prayers for Milton.

Printing up dollar bills eh?

I don't blame you for trying the skates on in the house, I know I would. I'm still too afraid to go buy a pair of roller blades ebcause I think all the little kids on the street will be laughing at me when I wipe out.

20 Facts About ME! (Reply to this comment)
by billinda
Hey, I read your Bio and feel we must be soul mates. Everything you wrote about I experienced. I grew up in NYC and I'm Irish, Polish, and German. I attended a city college and I'm a 2nd grade teacher. I have been married to the same man for 35 years and ALSO have a twin sister. Hey, wait a minute! I am your twin sister! Great review, Sis. I'm older by 3 minutes, by the way, so the family has to seek my advice first. Right? You should have signed my name also because the whole article was about me, too! Even the picture fits.

Oh Jennifer,

I love the senior discounts too. I have no shame. We went to Jones Beach on Long Island and discovered that they had raised the parking to $10. Wow! I thought that was pretty steep. I told my husband who is younger than I am to ask for the senior discount. He hates to do this but $10 is $10. Would you believe the kid asked him for his driver's license. Luckily the kid couldn't do math well because he let us through even though my husband is not a senior. The senior parking was free.

Hi Liz,

I loved this idea for the write-off. I read many submissions before George invited me to join the W/O. I wasn't sure I even wanted to do it but eventually I figured it would be fun - and it was. Wonder what my sisters will think of it?

Hi Jude,

I love kids. I am unsure if kids wanted to be in my class because I was such a good teacher or just because they knew I was just a big kid myself. Heck, I still collect Beanies - doesn't that tell you something? I always had the highest number of kids in my classroom and I never turned away a child because of numbers. Although I was tough on my students, we had a lot of fun too with lots of outings, parties and games that made learning fun.

Hi Jan,

You really have good eyes. Of course you are right. I'm going to change it in a couple of days. If I do it now the Ptiemann site knocks it out of order and the review get buried. But I will fix it.

My husband's father died just days after my mother. They were both very sick for months & it was just a nightmare getting through each day. We didn't know who to visit and how to divide up our time. My husband's father had suffered a stoke and didn't even recognize us. We still felt we should visit him every day regardless. The nurses told us it was silly to come so often but we did it anyway & I have no regrets.

Thanks for the correction.

Hi Lorace,

Yeah, I've never had any regrets about being a twin. Of course growing up people just thought of us as one entity so we didn't develop really separate personalities until we married and my sister moved 1,000 miles away. Many of my newer friends don't even know I'm a twin. It just doesn't come up in everyday conversation.

We did have a lot of fun with pranks. Got into a lot of trouble, too when we were found out. My husband still doesn't believe that one early date was actually with my sister.

We used to answer for one another during roll calls. The teachers then though they knew who was who by our clothing. Of course they were always wrong & then thoroughly confused. At lunchtime we would switch clothing.

In college a Psych Prof accused us of cheating since we always got the same wrong answer. It was because we studied together. For the mid-term & final he put me in the back of the room and her in the front. He stared at us for the whole two hours each time. We both finished the tests at exactly the same times and again had the same answers. As we left each test, he said, he'd hadn't figured out how we cheated but he knew we did it somehow. Of course we weren't cheating at all. He just wouldn't believe it. We would just smile sweetly at him giving him the impression that maybe we were communicating somehow during the test. We'd roar about how much effort he was putting into trying to figure it all out. He did give us both A+ because he couldn't prove anything. No one else got A's but us & it really annoyed him to give out two A's after he stated at the first class that no one would earn an A in his class because his tests were too hard.

His tests were exercises in reasoning rather than factual knowledge. Once my sister & I figured this out we knew exactly how to answer his tricky questions. Would you believe this guys actually asked questions about footnotes - I'm not kidding - footnotes? We deliberately took a second class with him for more fun. Again, we both pulled A's, the only A's in the class. We had figured him out, he hadn't figured us out. The last time we saw him he said he promised he would give us our A's but could we please just tell him how we did it. "It's driving me crazy," he said. I just want to know how you do it. We just smiled sweetly at him and told him how much we had learned in his class.

I could go on and on but you get the idea. Lots of fun being twins. I pity my poor mom who had to put up with all our shenanigans.

This was such an enjoyable read, Gloria. You sound like a warm and fun loving individual, and someone I would love to get to know better. You truly are blessed by your twin sister. Your stories about her are amazing! I have one sister, a year younger than I and we couldn't be more different. But we love each other, and that is what counts. May your life continue to be enriched with the love of your family!
My best,
Deborah~

do we have a lot in common...well, for one Turquise is my absolute favorite color...I drove a 300Z for years..a red one, but I had a turquise car before that...we also had a great dinner with Susie and Len..my family is of course the most important thing in the world to me,being a Granny is like a breath of sunshine...and of course, travel, researching it and then taking more pictures than I know what to do with..
There was more but thanks to my sometimers I can't remember right now..other then the fact that I too spend way too much time on the site..

Oh yes.. I forget my age too and it gets me in trouble,my body doesn't want to keep up with my head,

LOL

Loved reading this and getting to know you better..you are one of my favorite people on the site, you know that don't you?

Gloria,

This was wonderful. How I envy you with a twin sister. I hope you'll tell us about the pranks you played on others while growing up! It's the stuff that movies are made of.

What a wonderful relationship you have with your family, and I know what you mean about grandchildren.

Thanks so much, enjoyed learning more about you.
