I loved your article as my daughter is going into 9th grade next year and we are now considering ROTC for her. She is a middle of the road academically but works very hard at what she does and has great stick "totivness". She is not one to give up, sets her goals and works hard to achieve them. Her biggest flaw is she lacks some self confidence and she is not tough when it comes to the games so many of these girls play. She wants no parts of them and as a result spends a lot of time alone. I am hoping the ROTC will refocus her on some new goals and give her the confidence to achieve them. I loved reading about your daughter and I know you must be very proud of her.

I remember reading other stories about your daughter on here. She sounds like an amazing young woman.

I love to hear success stories about young people achieving their goals. Gives me hope for the future.

Congratulations on both of her achievements!

You are truly blessed to have such a tenacious, independent and well-adjusted daughter. Your story really reflects (to me) what a wonderful parent you must be! Always encourage her to shoot for the moon, and by golly, she'll get there!

Wonderful and uplifting... thanks!

Congratulations to your daughter and to you for giving the kind of support that helps a child blossom into the adult they want to be. The talents, the dreams, the goals usually come from within the child, but the confidence usually comes from the loving support with which they are raised. Way to go Mom!

Congrats to your daughter - she sounds like one very amazing person, though you say you can't take credit, I am sure at least a tiny part of that is because of you. :) Beam away - you and she both have every right to be very proud!
