It’s Time to Say Goodbye

The Bottom Line It's great that there is a place on the site to leave a message like this. I hope to see you all again.

To All My Epinions Friends,

It has been a fun 2 ½ years on Epinions.com. I am especially proud of the various hats I have been awarded over my many months here – currently Top Reviewer % Advisor in the Newspapers & Magazines category. I’ve met some wonderfully creative writers & can’t imagine why many of you aren’t published authors by now. I have also been quite moved by the beautiful poetry posted by many of you in the Writer’s Corner. I value all the friends that I have met here so I wanted to let you all know why you will not be hearing too much from me in the future.

As many of you know, I am planning to relocate to Florida in the fall. My husband has sold his practice & his replacement will begin taking over shortly. We have lived 30 years in our present home & before we put it up for sale, we have to wade through the accumulated “treasures” that we have acquired. Our biggest hurdle is tackling the attic that we have been filling up all these many years.

We haven’t upgraded our home much over the years, since it was in such excellent condition when we purchased it. Unfortunately, this means it is it still stuck in the décor of the 70s. We have been busy stripping outdated wallpaper & wall-to-wall carpeting. We’re spending hours repainting & laying down wood floors. Actually we have really been enjoying the gradual transformation. Too bad we have to sell our home just when it is becoming exactly the way we want it to look.

My husband & I are doing all this work ourselves at a leisurely pace. Recently, however, he has been experiencing more frequent reoccurring health problems. We have been to the emergency room several times in the last few weeks & it is now time for him to have a procedure that we hope, if successful, will reduce some of his cardiac arrhythmia episodes. His arrhythmias cause him to experience blackouts when his BP drops too low during episodes. He has had this condition since his early 20s but it has been getting worse as he gets older. Because of his health problems, I will have to do most of the remaining work without his help. Thank goodness I’ve learned a lot over the years from reading This Old House magazine. Once we are settled in Florida, we will have several more remodeling projects to keep us busy for the first couple of years.

In addition, my daughter just recently gave birth to her first child. I would like to spend as much time with our grandson as I possibly can before we move to Florida. For all the above reasons, I will have now much less free time to devote to Epinions.com and so, with a heavy heart, I have decided that it is time for me to leave. I really won’t miss the money I made here on the site since it didn’t amount to much but I will definitely miss all of you.

You all have become like an extended family to me. I treasure all of your comments & emails & feel honored that you took the time to write them. I have managed to answer each & every one of them. I want to especially thank the members who added me to their WOT way back when I was a newbie on the site: Bryan_Carey, Bonniesayers, Nanct, Mtbat, OpinionSharer, Patsyv, Jro26, CyndiA, Melissasrn, Lisa_J, Dkozin, Naphtalia, Watchdr_2000 & t13monkey. You gave me the encouragement to continue writing. Susie (Susie-34668,) it was great meeting you & Len. Barbara, (Iffer1938) I hope to meet you in Miami someday.

I wish everyone continued success here on the site. I will still stop by occasionally to read your reviews whenever I can. I just won’t be submitting any new reviews. I will be very interested to see how the DealTime acquisition evolves & what changes it will bring to Epinions.com. Take care!
