The Bottom Line Fact 21. I hate The Bottom Line

I haven’t been around much for a while, and a few people have asked when I was going to jump into this write-off. Well, figured this might be a good time to write a little, so here goes!

1. I think I’m related (in spirit) to Homer Simpson. I’ve been pretty sick lately. Been going thru a battery of tests at the hospital. At one point they injected me with (safe) radioactive isotopes. All I could think about at that point was Homer Simpson, and I kept wondering if I’d glow in the dark. (Unfortunately, I don’t….but my Pigs Can Fly pajamas do!)

2. Little Man saw a surgeon today. He has to have a “mass” removed. It’s growing behind his eardrum and causing some hearing loss, and other problems. Surgery is scheduled for July. There are several risks involved with the surgery, ranging from facial paralysis to complete hearing loss. He’s only at 35% hearing in that ear at this point. He may require a hearing aid, and future surgery might possibly correct the problem. Prayers appreciated! While you’re at it, say some for SoccerGirl! She’s scheduled for tests at the hospital next week. Hopefully we’ll find out what the problem is and be able to rectify it so she can return to her normal life!

3. I live in Canada, in a city known for some of the most extreme weather in the world. Trust me, its true! Last week my kids got sunburnt….its currently snowing, a lot, and doesn’t look like its going to stop for the rest of the day. (insert big freaking sigh here)

4. I love books. Yeah, I know, you’re surprised by that right? ROFL! I have a wall of books, 6 feet high by 24 feet long, shelves upon shelves upon shelves of books. The rest of my books are in boxes in the basement, in the garage, and in assorted closets. We must build more shelves! We actually have a contractor coming to give us an estimate on an addition to our house. We must have more shelves! My favourite book review? A children’s book, of course, that always puts me right back at that moment in time. Check it out here.

5. Music, music, music. Its in my blood, its in my soul, its all around me constantly. Without music and books I would die. Honestly. I love all kinds of music, classical, metal, folk, jazz, country, rock, you name it, I listen to it. (well, okay, I detest most rap, and disco, oh puhleeeeese!) Question for y’all? Just curious. Has anyone out there ever heard of the band Garfield? Album, Out There Tonight? Just wondering. The song most meaningful to me? Read about it here.

6. I’m a sahm, mom of three (three at home, one all grown up and moved out), married to my dh for 8 years. He’s currently home on disability, but he hopes to be getting back to work soon. I love being a sahm (Check it out here), and I’ve written a lot of reviews about my children. Just take a look at my profile page if you want to read about them. I’ve also written about losing my baby boy ( Oh Baby, I Miss You So ). My kids were 12 weeks, 8 weeks, and 16-17 weeks premature. All are stubborn, wonderful, headstrong, determined, adorable children. I am ever so proud of them, and I love them with all my heart and soul, and hold them in my heart always.

7. I am a survivor, not a victim. I have survived abuse of many kinds, as a child and an adult, and my most important review is Do You Believe Me Mommy?. I pray that no one ever needs the information contained in that review.

8. I am a member of a Secret Club. There are only two members, SoccerGirl and myself. We have a secret handshake, a secret song, and our club is named the SpongeBob Powerpuff Club No boys are allowed, because, as you all know, girls rule, boys drool! We purchased SpongeBob t-shirts yesterday, so we even have an official outfit now! (I love my daughter sooooooo much! I never was part of a secret club when I was a little girl, and its so nice to be invited to be a member of one now!).

9. I think SpongeBob SquarePants is cool and I’m collecting as many toys as possible! I also love the Powerpuff Girls, Beanie Babies, and Cherished Teddies. Yes, I am a collector. So are my children. My son collects spoons (I know that sounds weird, but he loves them. They remind him of the trips he’s taken, and the places he hopes to visit), and my daughter collects pins (particularly cities she’s been to and hopes to go to) and Beanie Babies and anything moon and star. So if any of you have pins or spoons that need a home to go to just send them our way! BabyGirl just collects everything, she likes saying “MINE” a lot! LOL!

10. I love to travel. I’ve been all over Canada, from the Yukon and Northwest Territories, down to British Columbia and across to Quebec. Unfortunately I haven’t had the opportunity to visit the East Coast of Canada, but I hope to be able to do so someday! I haven’t seen much of the US, but will probably be out in Chicago sometime this summer.

11. My favourite food is…..drumroll please…..chocolate! LOL! Okay, so I actually have a lot of favourite foods, but chocolate tops the list! I also love all Italian food, sushi, dolmathakia, and smoked salmon eggs benedict…oh, be still my heart! LOL!

12. Ten years ago tomorrow (April 17th) I made the choice to leave my ex-husband and went to live in shelter. I still remember that day with extreme clarity, the drive to the shelter, the fear, the terror, of leaving and not knowing what was going to happen to us. Check it out here.

13. I’ve been volunteering at my children’s school library a lot this past year, and I’ve decided to take an on-line course to get my librarian’s certificate. I’m really enjoying spending time at the library, and decided I might as well get paid for doing what I’m doing anyway!

14. I’m extremely emotional. I cry for Kleenex commercials, long-distance phone ads, sometimes just holding my children’s hands can put tears in my eyes! I know I’m weird, what can I say?

15. Two things I hate more than anything are stupidity and being lied to. My dear sweet husband decided to combine those two this week. He should melt his way out of the iceberg he’s currently encased in sometime around the next millennium. Maybe. Ah, what the heck! I’ll defrost him and let him build me that new deck I want as atonement! LOL!

16. My favourite colour is yellow, and blue, and green, and purple, and….oh, they’re all my favourites! I love all things French Country, and am currently refinishing three pieces of furniture.

17. I enter a lot of contests, and have won all sorts of things, from trips to home theatre systems. Yesterday I was able to inform my daughter that we will be attending Stars On Ice later this month because I won tickets. Yes, we love figure skating, and yes, she piddled herself! LOL!

18. I am the Queen Goof, and my family is known as The Goof Troop. Yes, we’re odd, and proud of it! My kids think its cool that I carry a Powerpuff Girls purse, that I do the Bear Cha Cha Cha when shopping, and that I love SpongeBob. I think its cool that they love Monty Python, and understand my somewhat weird sense of humour.

19. I have sleep apnea, which means I stop breathing when I’m sleeping. I’ve decided what I really need is “Night of the Living Dead” pajamas.

20. I quit smoking three months ago. It is quite possibly the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do, and my children are so proud of me!

Okay, that was tough. I don’t have enough interesting things to tell y’all! I did my best! Now, check out http://www.epinions.com/content_3202850948 to see more entries in this write-off!
