Hi!!! (Reply to this comment)
by AinsleyJo
Just saw your handle on another piece I was reading (commenting) and it occurred to me that I hadn't touched bases with you for awhile--and it turned out that I hadn't even read your 20 facts (and they're such interesting facts) before now.
But the answer to one of my questions that I didn't find here was: How's your lovelife? Last time I checked in on you, it seemed pretty romantic. Anyway, hope things are going well for you!
Hugs!

Ahhh .... Dahli! You should go to his museum in Feguerres, Spain. He designed the building (egg motif and all) and you can see Portrait of Mae West there. Now THAT is something to behold! It's hard to view some of his works, though, because it wasn't designed to be a museum so the rooms can be narrow and crowded.
That was a great twenty!

Yeah, I agree with Andaryl- Irish inspired, Guiness in lieu of coffee..?? Nah, I'll probably stick with both - these london hours are just killing me!
Tom - I had no idea you were so well read.. One day I will learn russian just to be able to really read dostoevski... and dammit, you are deceivingly knowledgeable about the astology thing - you had me convinced with the comment you left in my "20"!
Budapest?! What a great place- I will visit there again...hopefully many times- Since it bears on our "gourmet" consumption topic, I actually purchased my first R&J non-tubo chruchill there, and smoked it on the banks of the danube on Margaret island
Music...It's frightening how much we agree - music is right up there with wine and cigars among many other things.. Muddy Waters! Nice! Speaking of which, you must check it Muddy Waters on SACD- it is unbelievable how well they remastered it, and on a good system it sounds like you are sitting in a time warp, right there in front of him in the studio!
Awesome 20 Tom... One day we'll have to meet up over a beer and a stogie...
best

I was a Republican until this past year I became a Libertarian. My parents are Republicans, but my dad comes from a very Democratic voting family, so they always argued politics at Christmas.

Adult Beverages (Reply to this comment)
by andaryl
A pot of coffee? I cut out coffee and coke as a compromise for drinking beer. Besides an Oatmeal Stout is much better at the breakfast table than a cup of coffee.
I never really took an interest in art but I am fascinated by Dali's work.
Cheers

You sound very interesting, I can't believe all of that traveling !
This was a great read, you sound even smarter than I originally thought, if you can quote a great man like Alfred E. Newman that must mean you have an outstanding intellect. And I thought all you did was drink and smoke cigars??

It should come as no surprise that you are as complex a person as the many wines and beers you so ably describe. A very impressive detail of Tom Carr.
Cheers!

Please don't slow down too much. We enjoy your daily wine and beer reviews! What an awful thought that they should cease coming with such regularity. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I knew you would be an interesting person. Tom

Tom, (who enjoys a glass of wine or a beer with a meal) no kidding?!
Cowboy Junkies? - whahey!
Supertramp? - saw them live twenty years ago and they were probably the best live band I ever saw, note perfect.
Fragile? - love it...what about Relayer?
Nice to know a bit more about you,
cheers

Interesting stuff, man! I agree with your take on astrology; never saw anyone put it so lucidly before. Those school changes get old after a while, though, don't they! We had quite a few ourselves growing up, but not quite that many...
One review a day is quite a hike, but you kept it up for a good long while and got plenty to show for it! It's tough enough for me to get in 11 a month so I can get to 300 by my 3rd anniversary.
Nice getting to know ya!

How do you do! (Reply to this comment)
by lorace
You do very well, thank you! Great hearing about you, Tom. Whew! I was fascinated with your music and book collections! Wonderful. You could start your own lending library.
Also, loved this quotation especially: "Awakening begins when a man realizes that he is going nowhere and does not know where to go." How true!
I laughed about your computer experience! I started on a little TI with a tape deck, had 3 Tandy TRS-80's - evolved to the Model IV's (owned 3 of them, too) then a couple of 286's, 486's until I finally arrived at Win XP - Pentium 4 - but I cut my teeth on the little ones and loved it, as you did.
Thanks so much for this. Loved it.

That guy is hilarious. He did a bit one time about Vietnam war re-enactors in Elysian Park that cracked me up, a year or so later I read somebody doing something about the same thing and I thought "Hey! Stop ripping off Phil."
You ever hear him guest of "King of the Hill?"

Buddenbrooks, you say? How many others would cite this masterpiece as a favorite? The older I get, the more I realize that the plot lint is a bit too close to my plot line.
