Do not use Mercantila - Not worth the aggravation

I purchased a bed, a dresser, and 2 night stands on Dec 23, 2006 expecting delivery in 3-4 weeks. The bed and the dresser arrived on schedule Jan 17, 2007 with NO night stands. After contacting customer service I was told the night stands would ship on Jan 20. They told me the night stands were damaged in shipment and had been returned by the carrier. I later learned this was not true - they really never shipped. When no tracking number was posted online I called customer service on Jan 23 and was promised I would receive them by the 26th. On Jan 26, I was assured by a supervisor they would be shipped on Jan 27. On Jan 30 no tracking number was posted online so I called again to see if they had shipped, I was assured I would receive them by the latest Feb 7. When I determined on Feb. 5 they had not shipped I was told on the phone they would call back in 48 hours. They didn't call so I called them back on Feb 7 and asked for a manager - he promised me they would ship on Feb 9. I was told they had been passing on information the manufacturer had given them and that the delay was beyond their control. I asked for the manufacturer's number which they did not give me so I took it from the bill of lading I received with the first shipment. I called the manufacturer on Feb 7 - though they don't usually deal with the consumer, they were most helpful. They told me the order had just been received and would ship on Feb 9 (Fri) and to call on the 12th to get the tracking number. When I called the manufacturer on the 12th I was told they didn't go out because there was a "credit hold" on the order and they were waiting for confirmation from Mercantila before they could ship. The manufacturer gave me their contact information for the Mercantila individual responsible - I left a voice mail and then called customer service yet again and read them the riot act. Within an hour the manufacturer called back to say confirmation had been received and the tables would ship on the 13th. Mercantila called 30 minutes later to say the matter had been resolved. Remember - I paid for all of these items on Dec 23, 2006. I received the 2 night stands on Feb 21, 2007, a full 8 weeks later. The lesson learned - the best price may not be worth the aggravation AND I wish I had checked epinions before buying from Mercantila.
