dealing with SPAM w/ CruelMail
Apr 21 '03 (Updated Apr 22 '03)
The Bottom Line Cruelmail provides spam-proof email accounts. It only allows email from addresses in a whitelist. Charges a fee for others to reach the customer's mailbox. You get the collected fee.
I thought I'd get word out on a new way of fighting an exploding inbox.

The company is relatively new, but its been making some headway, and is included in many lists naming effective spam-blocking strategies. Here is the main idea behind their website:
They provide spam-proof email accounts.
Only the people you have explicitly listed with them in your Free Pass List will be able to send email to your CruelMail.com account. The rest will have to pre-pay a delivery fee in order to reach your mailbox. They let you set the fee and will collect it for you. Setting it high enough (does $100K sound high enough?) will prevent any spam from reaching you.
Options:
Regular Account
A regular account is free for the first year. This is a spam-proof mail forwarding service. This may be a good option if you already have an email address you'd like to keep. Your CruelMail.com account will serve as a spam-proof wrapper for your primary email address. If you choose to continue after the first year, it will cost $10/year
Gold Account
For $10 the first year, and $25/year thereafter you can get a Gold account, which provides Webmail that you can access through any browser.
Hope this helps!
Take care
