Monster movies, you either love em or you hate em. The truly great thing about them though is you know in advance it is all make believe. If, however, you live in the mindset that giant ants, intelligent spiders, or scum sucking leeches really exist, then I have a wonderful piece of property in Florida to sell you – grin.
They may not have been the first monsters but the two monsters that have defined the genre are King Kong and Godzilla. Although the diminutive Godzilla didn’t make it on the scene until years after the mighty Kong, he has definitely received more airtime and had more sequels than any other creature around. They haven’t always been good, should I say rarely been good, but they’ve been constant. Without further babble ……….

Godzilla vs King Kong – it was the best of times and it was the worst of times, to quote someone a whole lot better than I at writing. The opportunity to match these gigantic creatures against each other was the best idea in the world, too bad no one told the writers
Godzilla vs King Ghidora - this three-headed winged serpent tried his best, but even three heads can’t beat the mighty Godzilla!
Godzilla 1996 Epionier simply_crispy gives his take on the lousy remake of Godzilla. I don’t know why they think they have to sleek him up, he has always been a moneymaker, even as ugly [I can’t believe I said that] as he is.
Godzilla comparison review - I compare the Godzilla market from beginning to end. Apparently I am the only one in love with his perky ears and the way he does his little dance right before he strikes.
Godzilla Vs. Destroyah - Epinioner rawduu looks at another head-to-head battle between a couple of movie greats.
Godzilla 2000 - realizing their former mistake, they bring the old scaly guy back with enough fanfare it sounded like a James Cameron production. Stunk like one too.
Godzilla Vs. Biollante - Epinioner xxxxer tears his way through yet enough endless battle between good and evil. One is never sure just where Godzilla figures in these movies – sometimes good guy, sometimes bad guy.
Godzilla vs Mothra: Battle for Earth - one of two Mothra movies pitting these two super powers against each other. Both featuring the irritating, whiny female duo singing that horrible song.
Godzilla vs Mothra - the original Mothra movie, our first introduction to the sing-songy duo and the beautiful butterfly that wants to destroy Tokyo.
Bambi Meets Godzilla & Other Weird Cartoons - Epinioner alaskanray gives us a look at the really bizarre. I’ve never seen this one and for some reason I don’t think I will ever see it. Come on – Bambi?
Godzilla Vs. Space Godzilla - Epinioner AzN.Jin tells all about Space Godzilla. Space Godzilla is much like Mechagodzilla and both are extremely bad. They never stop do they, tempting us to spend our money.
Godzilla Vs. Mechagodzilla - A mechanical Godzilla fights the live Godzilla. The results are the same – Godzilla wins.
Godzilla’s Revenge - this was just rude
Son of Godzilla - Epinioner xxxxer wonders, as I do, why they bothered. Never saw a female Godzilla so one must simply wonder – uh – where did Son come from? Delightful to watch just for the campy antics of the smoke-ring poofing child.
Godzilla 1985 - Epinioner xxxxer looks at this trip down memory lane and is pleased with the results. Definitely not a kinder and gentler Godzilla but more like the original 1950’s bad guy.
Godzilla vs The Smog Monster - one of my personal favorites because of the horrible music and costumes of the 70’s. The Smog Monster speaks of gloom and doom if we don’t change our polluting ways.
Godzilla vs The Sea Monster - Epinioner xxxxer seems as fixated on Godzilla as I do and he jumps right in on this release.
Godzilla vs Monster Zero - Well. That is about all I can say about this pitiful release except it gives us a glimpse at Rodan & King Ghidora. The space idiots are a great view as well. Enjoy!
Godzilla vs Gigan - one of the funnier releases because we get to hear Godzilla talk. Yes, I said talk! That Gigan won’t win any beauty contests either.
Godzilla vs Megalon - we are blessed with the introduction of Jet Jaguar in this movie, along with Gigan and the Seatopians. I’ll give Godzilla this, he certainly hangs with a strange bunch of creatures.
Godzilla Raids Again - Epinioner xxxxer once again takes the helm. I’ve never seen or heard of this release, apparently a good thing.
All things furry and with an attitude, the last true American love story
King Kong 1933 - I’ll give you more useless trivia about King Kong than you ever wanted to know. This is a comparison shopping experience between the 1933/1976 releases but in my opinion, you can’t beat the original.
King Kong 1976 - Epinioner hugh_u_kidden takes a peek at the new Kong.
King Kong – Special edition - this is the original release, 1933, with a twist.
These are listed in no particular order or significance. Again I broke the rules, certainly more than 10 listed here but I hated to leave any one of them out.
If you haven’t enjoyed the experience of these two greats then by all means do so. You owe it to yourself to catch the original releases of each of these movies, especially the 1933 version of King Kong. A real masterpiece considering the time it was released.
