I was in the market for a quality pair of gloves and I was looking around the internet for some good deals and I found a pair of gloves that I liked at this site. I noticed that it said they shipped to Canada which was great because a lot of U.S. based places don't ship to Canada. I also noticed that this service was "new" and I was a little hesitant at first but after finding no other sites that offered the glove I wanted at the right price I decided to take a chance and try Ridegear's new Canadian shipping.
Selection: Everything is set up in several different categories which makes things easy to find and there is a search option. They always have closeout items which are marked down at least 5% from regular price and every once in a while they have blowout prices that are marked down significantly more than 5% (usually 30 - 50). Their inventory ranges through all motorcycle after market parts and riding apparel but they mostly concentrate on the three main categories of off road, sport, and cruiser. They carry a lot of brand name gear but don't have a lot of exotic stuff that some people are interested in. For example hard core harley bikers won't find a lot more here then at their local shop and if you're into the sport modding scene (like I am) you won't find any ground breaking parts either. All together it is a solid site that you can rely on to have much of what you'll need for everyday riding.
Shipping: Their rates are not great but they do offer free shipping if you spend a certain amount of money, but this option isn't available for Canadian shipping so it didn't really effect me. Over sized items cost more which is usually the case at most online stores but at least they tell you which items count as over sized, I have had other store not do this and it can be troublesome.
Ordering: The procedure was fast and easy, it is required that you set up an account with the website in order to purchase but it isn't a marathon like some other sites if bought stuff from. I had an e-mail within 5 minutes telling me they had received my request and that I would be getting an e-mail when my order was being shipped. However after 2 days I received an email telling em that their were complications with my order and I should call them right away. So i picked up the phone and called their toll free number which I received in the same e-mail. This number was of course the wrong one and after searching the site I found the new international number that I was supposed to use. After going through the paces of the pre-recorded number game I was supposed to be put on hold...but when I got to that point a voice came on and repeated the line "this mailbox is full" about 20 times before I hung up. I tried to get through 5 other times in the next 2 days but got the same error every time. After the 3rd day I finally got through only to find that their was no problem and they accidentally flagged my shipment as a "security warning", whatever that means. The man on the phone told me that my order would be shipped right away and that I would be getting a order e-mail soon.
When I finally got my e-mail 2 days later it didn't contain a tracking number. I sent an e-mail regarding this and still haven't heard anything back.
It's been a total of 13 days (10 business) since I ordered my gloves and I only got the e-mail saying they'd been sent yesterday. It says on their website that you can expect 7 -10 business days for the order to reach you. I don't know if that includes their processing time or not but regardless I should have gotten my gloves by now
Overall: Even if I get my gloves tomorrow the whole experience will be substandard and not worth the hassle. However this might vary if you live in the U.S. but I doubt it.
