Hi Jan, no I never heard that, which king?.yes, I'm sure the movie will be out on DVD soon..I may watch it again when that happens, hopefully there will be good extras, enjoy it when you do see it.

I saw this movie when it came out and no idea what it was about before I went. I really enjoyed it as well and your review of it is very good. I've also always been fascinated with Diana and remember vividly the news of her death.

I loved Mirren in her film debut of O Lucky Man and am so happy she received an Oscar. I'll enjoy this film when it comes out on DVD? Did you know a movie called The King is coming out soon? :-)

I'd love to know what you think after you see it, though not a Royalist I'm sure you will appreciate the way they handled the politics of that time...The actor who played Blair really was excellent

Until last week and all of the Oscar hype, I didn't have much of a great desire to see this one. But I have changed my mind, in large part because of your review!!

GREAT review. I'm dying to see this movie, as I've always been fascinated by the Queen. I too was surprised by just how much sorrow I felt when Princess Diana died. Thanks for sharing...and I'm so glad that Helen Mirren won!

...for once I disagree. I didn't like the movie at all. Maybe it was because I saw it in an airplane on a tiny screen where it probably lost its luster. My vote was for Blood Diamond which wasn't even nominated, except for best actor.
Loved the fact that 'An Inconvenient Truth' walked away with an Oscar!!!!!!
Hope all is well down south - we had 6 inches of snow yesterday which prompted the posting of 2 reviews since I was 'house-bound'. Thanks for the r&r and those nice comments!

I have seen so many documentaries on the Queen and seen her fun side, cooking a bar-b-que for the staff who look after them, even doing the dishes. She tells lots of jokes and can almost be one of the 'gang'.
I am so pleased that you loved this film.
