| amyk49's Full Review: Clorox Bleach Pen |
We've all used bleach for various household tasks, but now Clorox has come out with a unique way to apply bleach - the Clorox Bleach Pen.
~ Product Description
The Clorox Bleach Pen is shaped like a big fat pen. It has a smaller slant tip on one end, and a flat, wider tip on the other. Both ends are covered with a screw-off cap. This is designed to be used on bleachable fabrics, grout/caulking, and areas around sinks and tubs, anywhere you need to use a small, controlled application of bleach. As with any bleach, it should work on stains such as red wine, tea, berry juice, mold and mildew stains.
This comes packaged on a blister pack, and sells for around $3. Sometimes you can find it for less.
Directions for use say to shake before using, then unscrew the cap of your chosen tip and gently squeeze the bottle to apply. Be sure to replace the cap. For laundry, rub into stain, then wash immediately. Don't treat a garment while you're wearing it! You might want to wait a few minutes for tough stains before washing. This is not recommended for colored portion of garments. Remember, this is bleach, so if in doubt test an inconspicuous area before you use.
For household, apply bleach to the stain or area you are treating, then rub, and wipe or rinse clean. Avoid prolonged contact on plastic laminate countertops and metal surfaces, and rinse promptly after use. Do not use on silver.
~ My Experience
I've been using the Clorox Bleach Pen for about a year. I find it invaluable for certain things, such as stains found on the white area of a print fabric, for instance. The Clorox Bleach Pen lets you apply the bleach just to that area, so you don't bleach out the colored portion. And it works fantastic on those stains! I find it's easy to control - almost like writing with a pen. The bleach is like a gel bleach. The tips are both quite sturdy, so you can easily rub the bleach into the fabric. I have rarely found a stain this will not take out.
I have also used the Clorox Bleach Pen on grout around my tub, which tends to get mildewy. It does a pretty good job, but hasn't been able to completely rid the grout of stains. The best part, though, is that I can just apply the bleach directly to the grout, and not get it on my acrylic tub surface. If you've got lots of grout to do though, the bleach pen will get used up quickly.
~ Final Thoughts
The Clorox Bleach Pen is a wonderful way to apply bleach to a small area. It is easy to control, and easy to use. The two tips give you a choice of the smaller, slant tip, or the wider flat tip for larger areas. I guarantee you will find many opportunities to use this. Thanks, Clorox!
