The Bottom Line: When it worked, it was nice and fast. Too bad that was hit and miss.

| d_lee's Full Review: Agfa SnapScan 1212p Flatbed Scanner |
November of last year (2000) I bought a snapscan 1212p. Here in Canada it was 160.00 not the cheapest I could have bought, hardly highend either. I knew this going in. The first week I was more than happy with it.
The honeymoon ended.
Then I started getting SCSI error… no idea why, I don't have anything in my computer that is SCSI… The cure for it was to turn everything off then start fresh. I suppose that isn't a big hassle, except I hate any hassles when I'm busy trying to do something, but I learned to live with it.
Recently I upgraded my operating system to win 2000 pro. I went to the Agfa site fully expecting to find a driver for it. Wrong… there is no driver for windows 2000. Instead they have come out with a couple new scanners to work with win 2000… I have to say I was rather annoyed… to say the least.
I decided since I couldn't run the scanner off my main computer I could still avoid buying a new one by using it with my laptop, since it runs win 98. I hooked it all up and now the scanner itself seems to have died. I get an inch and it stops saying there's problem. I have tried everything I can think of, but it refuses to function properly.
Bottom line
I have given up on this scanner. I have faced the fact I will have to buy another. Of course I can't afford another one at this time, but when I do, it will not be an Agfa. It is not a highend scanner, but I still expected it to work… at least for a year.
