Maybe this isn't the hottest thing on wheels, but as far as I am concerned, this printer is the cats meow! I read some of the other epinions about general office use, and they didn't have great things to say. Well, duh! (not to be insulting to those other epinion writers), but it is called PHOTOSMART. That's what it is designed for, photos. As far as I am concerned, after "willing" my old Deskjet560C to my 8 year old son (Who is just tickled pink about it), I can truly say this printer performs circles around that POG (Piece Of Garbage). This printer is really quiet, which is really great, considering that our PC is set up in the bedroom, and my wife or I stay up late to work on things (Like this article for example), and with the printer being so much quieter, one of us get to sleep. Speed when printing color charts is another plus. If you are familiar with the old Deskjet 5xxC series printers, it was a serious waiting game. Not with the 1000, It prints in color as fast as it does in B&W (well, almost). The picture quality is some of the best I have seen. For the money, I get my thumbs up.
