An amazing update of a true classic!
Written: Jul 22 '01
Pros:Stunning Graphics, Challenging Levels of play
Cons:Highly addictive!
The Bottom Line: A great 3D maze game that is best suited for kids 9-13 (although many 30 year olds will like it too).
My five and seven year olds received this game as a gift. Immediately, I was pressed to install the game and show them how it worked.
Installation
Installation was a breeze! The install program checks your system to make sure you have the latest version of DirectX since the graphics in the game are 3D and very intense.
Game Play
For anyone that grew up during the 1980's, you're in for a shock when you see this game. This is not the Pac-Man I grew up to know!
The premise of the game is that Pac-Man needs to find four parts of an "Artifact" to set time travel back to normal. Each maze (there are 45 different ones) becomes progressively harder and has some secret to it. The action is fast and furious at times and never dull.
After about an hour or "trying" the game out, I finally relinquished the controls to the kids. My five year old didn't quite have the skills necessary to move Pac-Man around quick enough, even on the lowest skill level. My seven year old fared a little better, but not much. The game is listed as for kids 6 and older, but perhaps a training level should have been included. Most young kids frustrate easily and mine are certainly no exception!
