| fatboydave's Full Review: EchoStar 3720 Dish Network System |
I have two 3000 models. Both have gone bad in less than 2 1/2 years. Luckily one was covered under a "special warranty" because of a "hardware problem" that was discovered by Dish but not told to the customers unless the problem was reported. Now, the best they will do is give you a discount price for a refurbished receiver. One option is to purchase the extended warranty of 1.99 per month and then report the problem and get it replaced for the cost of shipping. The warranty is a 12 month commitment.
Overall the system is comparable to cable. The channel options are good. Unless you live in the top 15-20 cities in the US you probably will not get local channels or distant broadcast channels. It is a bit misleading to advertise that you can get locals with DTH satellite.
