...to take my boys to this zoo! What a wonderful place, and your review really made it come to life for me! I enjoyed this very much.
I would love to see the photo of your daughter dressed up as a bug, though...Too funny.

When I lived in Chicago I always went to the Lincoln Park Zoo (which I absolutely love - is it still free?). I didn't even know there was another zoo in the area.
Nice review. You make me wish I'd known about the Brookfield Zoo when I lived in the area.

Oh my, Grace! You really produced a gem this time. I felt like I was on a virtual tour of the zoo. Well done. VERY well done, indeed!
Now if I could just get this monkey off my back!

Ah, the memories (Reply to this comment)

You're so right about the Brookfield Zoo. I have only been there once, a few years ago. It's wonderful to be reminded of the exhibits and great to hear about the new ones they've added since I was there.

At such places... (Reply to this comment)

... it seems that the volunteers can make of break the whole show. Looks like the BZ volunteers more than make it!
Thanks for the rich detail Grace.
Hmmm, I wonder why the armadillo has hair... ...t-žoo

I went their in 8th grade for a field trip. Did you happen to notice how tame all the squirrels there are?

Squirrels aren't stupid! They have to have the easiest gig of any critter! :)

Great review (Reply to this comment)

Great review! I grew up in Illinois in a suburb not too far from Brookfield. This is my favorite zoo of all times. I live in Florida now - and there's no zoos like Brookfields.

Ah, but don't you see? The fact that they're in the same family is the very reason why it's so cool that they have so many differences outside! Kids don't understand how the two animals can be in the same family when they are, to the average person, nothing alike.
Thanks for reading!

Strollers do get stolen from Brookfield Zoo (Reply to this comment)
by fasteddieg
Nice review. We do enjoy Brookfield Zoo also. We went to Brookfield Zoo today in fact, and visited the Stingray and Dolphin exhibits. However, while in the Dolphin show, we did have our stroller stolen from the middle of 100 in the Dolphin show "stroller parking." Only our little cooler was in there, no bags or anything but still a sad occurrance, not just for us financially, but for the society we live in. No one else's stroller was reported stolen from that point until the end of the day.
Zoo police said they are in the process of putting cameras in the "stroller parking" areas, as this isn't uncommon. But, in my opinion, having video of something you already know occurred doesn't really solve the issue. On an individual protection plan, we purchased a bike lock from the store when we purchased the new travel system today. (I had to drive to Babies R Us, buy a new travel system, and then go pick up my 2 girls and wife from the Zoo, so we could safely drive our infant daughter home).
So please add our incident to your memory so that you know strollers do get stolen from Brookfield Zoo.
