Knowing me through 16 Q&As (Prelude's W/O)

The Bottom Line Like a moth drawn to a flame, I am drawn to "about me" write-offs...

For whatever reason, I am drawn to "about me" write-offs. I suppose it's because I think write-offs allow people to learn about others -- or maybe it's just because I like talking about myself. :P

In any event, I saw Prelude's 16 Q&A write-off, and it looked fun. Here goes:

1. How long have you been a member of Epinions?
2. What do you do for a living?
3. Favorite food?
4. Most embarrassing moment?
5. What are your favorite topics to write about on Epinions?
6. Name a few things that you can’t stand whatsoever:
7. Hobbies?
8. What kind of car do you drive? What color is it?
9. Worst time you got into trouble when you were a kid?
10. Have you ever been on TV? If so, what for?
11. What kind of music do you like to listen to?
12. What CD would your friends be surprised that you own? …
13. Shoes or sandals?
14. Where do you buy most of your clothes?
15. Have you ever met any famous people? If so, who?
16. What are your favorite TV shows?

My answer are as follows:

1. How long have you been a member of Epinions? Since last September, although I never actually wrote an epinion until last March. I have, however, used the site for quite awhile to judge potential product purchases -- perhaps for two or three years now?

2. What do you do for a living? As my profile page states, I'm a freelance software developer (security & automation). But I also do a lot of things on the side: stock investing, starting businesses periodically, etc. For better or worse, I tend to fill most of my free time with business-related activities.

3. Favorite food? I don't really have a favorite food. I tend to like whatever is available, and I have few preferences.

4. Most embarrassing moment? I'm rarely, if ever, embarrassed. I sometimes regret previous actions, but it's more if I make a strategic mistake (e.g. if I blow a sales pitch and lose a potential project).

5. What are your favorite topics to write about on Epinions? I like Writer's Corner and travel reviews the most.

6. Name a few things that you can’t stand whatsoever: There are very few things that I can't stand (can't think of anything particular at the moment). I'm relatively easy-going.

7. Hobbies? I enjoy writing, although only factual writing... I'm not at all creative. My favorite hobby is probably computers. I run a home ethernet, and I hand-built my primary computer (I found IBMs and Dells to be too slow for my needs).

8. What kind of car do you drive? What color is it? No comment. Hey, it's okay to skip one question, right? :P

9. Worst time you got into trouble when you were a kid? I rarely got into trouble as a child. *thinks* Sorry, I can't recall any incidents. I was always pretty well behaved.

10. Have you ever been on TV? If so, what for? No. I was on the radio once, but I didn't care for it. I'm not the type of person that enjoys that kind of attention.

11. What kind of music do you like to listen to? I don't really listen to music. I might have classical music going in my home, as background music, but I don't ever listen to music just to listen to music.

12. What CD would your friends be surprised that you own? I don't own more than a few music CDs. However, some of my friends would be surprised at the software CDs I own... I own a fair number of Enterprise-level software suites, even of non-business software. I've just never liked the "Normal" editions of software -- too limited for me.

13. Shoes or sandals? Shoes, always. I haven't worn sandals since I was ten years-old.

14. Where do you buy most of your clothes? I really know nothing about fashion. I'll usually just go into a Nordstroms and ask a sales associate to show me outfit options. I always buy business casual or higher; I don't feel comfortable going out (whether to a movie or a restaurant, etc.) in anything less than business casual.

15. Have you ever met any famous people? If so, who? Based on the way most people define famous, no. I have no interest in meeting movie stars or the like. However, I have met innovators and the like in the computer industry, and that's always cool.

16. What are your favorite TV shows? I don't watch much TV... Maybe an hour per week? But when I do watch TV, it's generally The Sopranos, Frasier, or old Seinfield reruns.
